Hi, I'm trying to setup NextPVR using a Hauppauge 350 and I new to this so I'd appreciate some help. I installed the WinTV 7 software that was recommended and I got NPVR to identify the 350. I can't seem to get NPVR to scan the channels as I continue getting an Unhandled Exception error. I've tried a number of decorder options with no luck. The Unhandled Exception error message mentions that you can run just-in-time (JIT) debugging, and I thought this might be helpful but I'm not sure how to go about this. They talk about setting up a machine.config file, but the only one that I found is for .net framework. Is this right? Any help that you can provide would be appreciated.

BTW, I have NPVR set up on a 2.4 ghz PC with 1 GB memory, running XP SP3

Hi, my cable provider is all-digital so I can't speak from experience, but I don't think you have to scan for channels with an analog device - in fact I don't think there is a "Scan" button on the Device Setup page. What button are you pressing when you get the Unhandled Exception error? "Import Channels" should only work if you have already downloaded an XMLTV file via SchedulesDirect or mc2xml. You should also be able to "Add" channels manually. Here's the Wiki page on Analog Device Setup: http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...etupDialog

The only decoder choices you have to concern yourself with are for MPEG2 Video and MPEG1 Audio. I have no recent experience with XP either, but you might not have a suitable Microsoft MPEG2 decoder unless it's Media Center Edition. WinTV includes a MainConcept MPEG2 decoder, but you might only have the SoftPVR components installed. I hesitate to suggest installing SAF6 "unlocked" if you only need one decoder, but I'm not sure what else to suggest. VMR9 is said to be the best video renderer for XP.

That depends on how much cpu power you have, with a stromg cpu EVR works just fine. Much is also dependent on the graphic hardware. But that has nothing to with his resent problem, post your logs as suggested so we can see what's going on.

There seems to be two problems in your logs, one is starting the web server. For now you could just disable it in config.xml by setting enabled to false in the WebServer section. The other problem seems to be when nrecord tries to set the resolution for the HW encoder in your capturecard. Does the PVR350 even have a hardware encoder?

Yes the PVR-350 has a hardware MPEG2 encoder. Does the tuner work with any other software? Is WinTV fully installed or just the SoftPVR components? Are you perhaps running XP Professional 64-bit?

If you've got WinTV7 installed on the machine, you may need to stop the 'HauppaugeTVServer' service before trying it in NextPVR. I think this is one of a small handful of very old devices that don't like two applications touching the device at the same time.
