Great.

The only two devices that behave this way are the Hauppauge PVR250 and PVR350. They're both over 10 years old though. Newer devices don't have this problem.

I tried changing decoders after reviewing a search of the Forum. I didn't have any luck. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Did you try the MainConcept MPEG2 decoder that comes with WinTV?

I used the MainConcept MPEG2 decoder and now the system is unable to find a capture device.

Have you tried rebooting? Is the device present in windows' device manager?

It seems likely that rebooting has caused "HauppaugeTVServer" to restart (as it does "NPVR Service"). It looks like you were having success tuning channels on the evening of May 27. Did you ever get a picture? BTW you don't have to reboot every time you change Settings. You can restart the recording service under Start\Programs\NPVR with "Start NPVR Service." However the web service error apparently never went away. Here's a link to Hauppauge Support for your device: http://www.hauppauge.com/site/support/su...0-350.html

Notice that the PVR-350 is only supported under 32-bit versions of Windows. Also notice that they don't recommend WinTV v7 for the device, but rather WinTV v6. If you have a CD, you can make that change free of charge. However I doubt that's the problem if you're only interested in using NPVR, which only borrows certain components needed for analog support. But at the very least, you should check your driver version against the version on the "Driver install only" tab at the support page.

I certainly do not think the MainConcept MPEG2 decoder is the source of your latest problems; in fact it's said to be the only decoder that enables NPVR to deliver Closed Captions. It works, so keep trying it.

[Edit] Oops! As johnsonx42 states below, do not install WinTV6 if you plan to use NPVR! I should've reviewed the Wiki before posting. I would still check the driver version though.

No, do not install WinTV6. that will break everything. As Zeb said though, it's probably just that the Hauppauge TV Server service started up again; you'll need to disable it in Services.
