Hi There,

When I was using WMC a push on this button would put my box to sleep, but not if WMC was actually recording something. In that instance it entered away mode and carried on recording. With NextPVR I have noticed that when I press this button the box just goes to sleep, regardless of what the recording services is doing. Is this something badly configured with my box? Or is this something that is on the plan to fix?

Currently I have disabled the power off button and I allow the box to cycle to sleep. This seems to take into account the activity of recording but feels less correct. Anybody know what I should do?

I have been using PBS's AwayModeActive.exe utility for this, which was attached to this post http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post404295

Unfortunately time has deleted it from the forums - It should really be on the Wiki!

I have just deliberately tested it on Windows 8 and it works perfectly Big Grin Screen blanks and recording continues.

I have attached my copy to this post - I hope PBS does not object - it is really useful Cool - I can always remove it, if he does.

I have it in the C:\Program Files\NPVR\plugins folder with a shortcut to the Start-up entry on the start menu - but I believe you can just place it in the Start-up folder and it should work.
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

Hi Lao Pan,

I have tried this but am not sure that I am doing this right. I have just run AwayModeActive.exe, this gives me a tray icon that definitely identifies whether something is recording or not. This seems to be all it does though, if I ask it to sleep using your SetSuspend hint of another thread the box goes to sleep regardless of whether the lock is displayed or not, taking the recording with it.

Am I doing something wrong with the install here. I have just put it in the windows 7 startup folder then created a batch file to request the sleep state.

it may be the way you are requesting sleep, Win can be forced to sleep, need to 'ask' it to sleep instead...
what command are you using to sleep it manually?
if the sleep cmd is ok then i'd try resetting power options and check again...maybe something set in power options interfering..

and Lao, no problem...it seems to really delete stuff quickly nowdays..i couldn't find the original one i had posted before to re-upload....

Hi pBS,

I'm using rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState. I got this from a thread that Lao Pan had replied to and said this requests rather than forces sleep.

hmm,works for me..
enters 'away' mode when asked to sleep while recording is active..
so probably a power saving config problem..
go to power options in control panel, hit 'change plan settings' on your active power plan, once there, select 'restore default settings for this plan'
then reboot and test awaymodeactive...and let me know how it went...
if problems, check event viewer for msgs..

also, this only works on vista/up....Xp only works with a special awaymode update that isn't very reliable..

I'm running on seven so it should be okay, to be honest I screwed up a recording because I didn't expect it to fail so tested while it was recording something I wanted to keep! Worse when it woke it thought it was still recording and it really wasn't, I had to restart to get it all clean again :-(

I'll reset the profile and see what happens.

hi pBS,

Well I tried it, reset the power settings and set something recording. Checked the program had become a key and then hit the button and it went straight into hibernate. I then checked the settings and put the allow awaymode when playing media on and it still did it.

I'm assuming that your program watches the recording queue as a toggle to request away mode itself so there should be no more configuration required but if I am not right on that let me know.

Can anyone tell me how I can "read" that there are recordings running? I'm wondering if there would be a way to test for this with LMRemote and then only send the suspend state if not running. Easiest way would be if there was a window for me to search for I guess. If someone could point me in the right direction I could knock up an Items recording window that only appears (hidden) when something is recording then look for that with LMRemote...
