Looks pretty good.

I'm not sure if it's something that'll help you or not, but there was some basic support web support for viewing and interacting with a image based version NextPVR UI. I'm away from home at the moment, but from memory it was something like http://ip:8866/control?size=640x360&key=123 and it'll return you an image of the UI (of the hidden NextPVR web session). The 'key' parameter allows you to interact with the UI.

yeah i remember playing with that web based version of the gui. was thinking that might be able to be used, but it would be a lot slower, and video playback etc could be a problem.

since samsung tv is all html, css,js its really not difficult to write a basic clone of nextpvr in it, so the best solution would be a native app which would be a lot faster and could handle custom client settings (would need a screen to configure server settings + any other specific client settings that may popup).

only been at this for 2 nights and have 3 screens well on their way (main menu, recordings and guide).

2 more screenshots. tv guide and the player.

progress update
- added channel icons (need to fix handle the resolutions of logos better, currently just stretching them)
- added OSD for player, timeline, description, title, channel logo
- player supports skip, prev, jump back/forward, pause, resume
- added basic splash screen when loading data from server (on my tv this splash screen disappears in about 0.5 seconds, only loading the channels into memory ATM).

basically you can now play all your recordings, watch live tv, and browse the guide.

and this is only night 3 of development Smile got to love sub for making such a great piece of software to interface against and samsung for making apps so easy to write, samsungs video player control makes things so simple (i say this now, and will probably run into a nightmare issue in a few days...)

tomorrow ill work on improving the guide (add current time line indicator, shows that are currently airing slightly different color, and hopefully finish the guide navigation).

im hoping by the end of the weekend that I'll be able to schedule recordings.

It *should* work with any Samsung "Smart" TV or BluRay. These are the devices that have the "SmartHub" app system, and yes, there is a Netflix app for SmartHub which works pretty well (it has the very annoying 100-episode limit, but I've read that's a common problem with Netflix apps for CE devices). I have a Samsung "Smart" BluRay player that's a year or two old (I'm pretty sure it's this one:http://www.samsung.com/us/video/blu-ray-dvd/BD-D5700/ZA), and am eagerly awaiting a test release of Reven's impressive app.

I noticed that Samsung has some BluRay players now that have Netflix, Pandora, etc., but are not "Smart" - that is, they have built-in apps for a few services, but you can't add more apps. It seems pretty clear these won't work - gotta have the "Smart" feature.
