Hi!
I've been using Windows Media Center for years with three Hauppauge HDPVR recorders. With Microsoft not longer improving Media Center, I'm looking at alternatives. Can someone confirm that I can use multiple HDPVR devices on the same computer with NextPVR? It used to be a problem early on with Media Center.
Thanks

I use two of them with no issues. They work great. Hauppauge's IR blaster software only supports one at a time, so you'll have to use something like EventGhost or LMremote to use multiple blasters.

My Set Top Boxes (STBs) support Firewire, so I'm using Firewire channel changing - completely bypassing the IR blasting. I think I've missed 2 or 3 recordings over the years because my provider likes to do firmware upgrades and then leave the boxes powered off. I recently moved to SageChanger for Firewire channel changes, it adds an option to power on the STB if it is off. It works perfectly.

Here's the like for that: http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=51608

Sadly my cable company disabled Firewire support last year so I have to rely on IR Blaster. I will look at those third party software. Thanks for the quick answer.

You might want to look at the USB-UIRT thread just three threads down in the Hardware forum. There are also some threads that discuss channel-changing using two of the very similar Hauppauge Colossus cards, such as this one: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...l-properly

You could also explore the MCE remote path. If you get the "real" MCE remote from e-bay with the receiver, many/some support two blasters. I have two that are Acer branded that support two blasters. Disclaimer is that I have never used the blasters, I use firewire. In that regard, maybe they just disabled the firewire output, not the channel changing feature. You might be able to see something in the STB diagnostics, or just try it if you have a firewire cable. Only works with 32 bit Windows however, and 7 needs a tweak in Device Manager. No idea about 8.

This is the remote I have, mine came with two blasters:

I actually do have a real Microsoft remote with the dual IR emitter. That would be great if I can make it work.

You don't need to install NextPVR to test this. As long as you find the command line method to change channels you are all set.
