Well johnsonx42 motivated me to search more thoroughly. Despite manual search for a driver yielding the same result as before, I found an article saying no Windows 7 driver is available or planned:
http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pag...ivers.aspx (I also took a survey, giving the AMD website low marks.)

Most discouraging I'm afraid, but there are those who report success with the All-in-Wonder HD on Windows 7 64-bit: http://forums.legitreviews.com/about24776.html

Drivers. I'm getting a bit confused now. Using the detect-and-search tool from AMD says I have the latest driver. Using Control Panel - Display Adapter shows the ATI All-inWonder HD and trying "update the driver online" returns a message that I have the most current driver. "up to date" Dated 11/9/2011, 8.920.0.0

Using the AMD drop-down menus instead gets me to a driver file: 13-4_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql.exe. Which I downloaded. But haven't yet installed, since the other stuff says I'm current.I've seen elsewhere that I ought to install it because I'll get Catalyst Control Center, whatever that is, exactly? I assume it it the "change setting" software for appearances, rather than doing it via Win 7.

So should I install the driver file even though self-detect says I'm current? Or should I look for the "control software" separately from the driver? Or is it maybe of no benefit? THEN, how does that help me get my device recognized?

Wait. I then looked at the link to legitreviews. There is the "other device" NTativlm61 that has no driver, although Device Manager says it is working properly. But it has it's own weirdness. No driver found via Device Manager. I went to ATI, not AMD, and tried it's driver search tool. Leads to setup.exe which turns out to be Driver Tuner3.5 and it wants $30 to register to work. Seems kinda like a scam, but could be legit.

I need to consider what to do next. Search more for a driver for NTativlm61. Use the AMD file. Pay the fee to Sea Lion Driver Tuner, or whatever, or maybe search more on whether it really is a valid program, and ATI is just pimping its customers to get the files.

If you are considering paying for a driver, I'd recommend buying a device with better support for 64bit Win 7/8. For digital tuning Hauppauge cards are a safe bet with NextPVR.

no, don't pay for some stupid driver downloader. It won't do anything that you can't do yourself, if it does anything at all other than steal your money and credit card info.

The most recent WDM Driver I can find is on this page: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/wi...ng=English (use just the WDM driver from that page, not the Catalyst display driver).
The release notes don't say it supports the AIW HD, yet then it lists a couple of minor known issues when used with the AIW HD which implies to me that it will work with the AIW HD but someone just forgot to add it to the supported device list (and the driver is definitely dated much later than the release of the AIW HD). The AIW HD seems to be a forgotten product; AMD's regular driver selector points to a display driver that won't work with it and offers no tuner driver at all.

YES!!! I have devices!! Now I can try moving forward with channels and such.

Next time I get a tuner card I'll go to Happauge first. I got the ATI All in Wonder HD kind of on a whim. (Are over the air signals digital tuning? Yes?)

The ATI driver site is suspicious. Comes up as an ad. Seems that all driver requests lead to setup.exe, which is LionSea Driver Tuner, which charges a fee. I didn't use it.

Searched further on NTativlm61. Found a site that solved Devices! Link and text copied below! I did just what was stated, then rebooted and checked NPVR, which shows an ATSC and QAM tuner! It had me "unzip"/expand a Vista 9.4 driver +/- and then point NTativlm61 to the drivers. So it doesn't replace other drivers, like the display.

So, now I can see how to finish up with NPVR and channels and such. Thanks for all the help. (so far)

So, should I install the driver file from ATI, with Catalyst, etc, or leave it alone?

Going back to the 9.4 driver seems to fix this issue if you follow these steps:

Uninstall the ATI Unified AVstream AIW driver, if present. (Its under "Sound Video and Game Controllers" in device manager)
Once you uninstall that, you will be prompted to restart. Do so and when your PC starts back up you will notice a device named "NTativlm61" in "other devices" within device manager.
Next download the version 9.4 driver for the AIW HD from ATI's website. (They have a section for previous drivers)
Open the executable and tell it to install the driver in an easy to find folder (like c:\TVdriver). Then you can just cancel the installation of the Catalyst software.
Once you've done that go to device manager and right click "NTativlm61" and update driver. Click browse my computer and in the field put the location where you had the 9.4 driver installed. (c:\TVdriver)
Click "next". It should find the driver and install it.
Finally you have to reconfigure your tv tuner through Media Center. It should list 2 tuners after it checks your TV signal.
When it scans for channels it integrates the digital channels in with your analog ones.

The driver can be downloaded at the following location

I don't see anything like that on any ATI or AMD site. I suspect your computer may be infected with a search hijacker.

That aside, glad to hear you finally have your tuner installed. For OTA digital, you'll want to scan the ATSC device. The QAM device is for digital cable.

Thanks for the ATSC tip!

As to drivers, when I "googled" ati drivers, the top item is an ad link but says official ati drivers. Most other items reference AMD, not ATI.
http://www.official-drivers.com/installe...MgodBVoA2w
However, any driver selection leads to the "driver file" "setup.exe," which installs the LionSea Driver Tuner program, or whatever. So it is set to steer folks to the program, whci then demands a fee to register for it to perform. Pretty clever, actually.

Gotta take a break and go to the gym for a while . . .

It's not ATI or AMD doing that (AMD owns ATI if you don't know, they do most things as AMD now but the ATI name sticks around). Note that link is a sponsored link... haven't you learned to ignore the sponsored listings on Google? If you look at the top "real" links, they're all AMD.

Smile That is a great lesson to ignore the ads! I've learned, now.

but it did say ATI and it "looked" official. But it clearly wasn't.

It's nice to have NPVR running! Still "tuning" it, but this is the end of this thread.
