Attempting to make the leap as a long time user of BeyondTV to NextPVR. One of the things BTV had was the ability to create recording pools which could contain any number of drives/folders and BTW would treat them as a single source for recording storage. I searched the forums and found a few things but couldn't find anyting recent. Does anyone know if what is described in this thread: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...irectories

is built into the 2.6.2 build by default? The dll timestamp of what's included in 2.6.2 is newer than what is in the zip file.

Perhaps there's a newer solution and my searching is just lousy. Any help would be much appreciated!!

Yes, that feature is included with the 2.6.2 release.

You can use that setting to have it spread recordings between multiple directories, or when you scheduling recordings you can specify which of your recording directories to use. For example, you might have a 'Kids' directory, where you record all your kids shows to.

All the other aspects of the multiple recording directories feature work great, but I've never been able to get the "Spread" setting to do anything. Perhaps that's one more thing that ought to be sorted before the next release?

If you can reproduce the problem, and post the logs, I'm happy to take a look.

I've reported this before with logs, can't find it at the moment though. As I recall, nothing interesting showed in the logs.

I'm off to bed now, but will re-test it tomorrow and post logs.

there was some discussion about this here: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post444575, and http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...recordings, wherein I and others said it wasn't working.

afaik no one has ever reported they had the Spread feature working. It's a hidden feature though, I doubt more than a handful of users know it exists. A checkbox on the Recording path screen would be welcome.

Absolutely. I was looking for it a while ago but decided it was not ready implemented yet.

Do you have any updated directions on how to get it working? Am I right to assume that all I need to do is add whatever directories/drives to the recordings area and then include the following xml in the config.xml?

<DefaultDirectoryChoice>spread</DefaultDirectoryChoice>

Which directory do I choose then when I setup a recording? That's the part I'm unsure about....

This feature is currently not working, but we're working on it. By "we" of course I mean I bugged sub about it, he's doing all the work, I'm testing his updates. I expect this feature will be working for the next release, which sub has publicly suggested is about 2 weeks out (of course I keep throwing UI and feature fixes/requests at him, and the client/plugin devs keep asking for API changes and additions, so you never know when it'll be out).

Once it's working, yes you have it correct. You add the extra directories to Settings->Recordings. If you have Spread enabled, then NRecord will choose whichever path has the most space available at the time of recording. When you set the recording, you must leave the destination directory set to "Default"; if you choose a different path then it will be explicitly sent to that path.
