New to NPVR and I am looking to use it for a backend with XMBC. I installed the application and when I try to add my device but I cannot. Should NPVR automatically detect the device? Or do I have to add it manually? If i have to add it manually the Setup Device button is grated out. Also when I right click and select Setup Device nothing happens. I have confirmed the Windows Device Manager has detected the device. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit with a PCIe Ceton InfiniTV 4. I did not install the network drivers during the set up. Screen shot is attached. Any help is greatly appreciated.

There is no built in support for Ceton devices. Other CableCard devices like the HDHomeRun or Hauppauge devices are natively supported.

Some users have got it working successfully by installing the Network Recorder plugin, and using SageDCT. You can find some info about this plugin here: http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...rkRecorder

any plans to add the Ceton InfiniTV 4 to the supported tuner cards within NPVR now that the demand for cablecard ready tuner cards is increasing (comcast is rolling out encryption of all channels)?

Encrypted channels that are marked copy once cannot be supported natively by NextPVR due to the high cost of DRM authorized by CableLabs. Only encrypted channels that are marked copy freely could be supported. I have a Ceton tuner sitting on my desk for the sole purpose of writing a native recording source plugin but I simply haven't found the time yet.

For copy-freely is there a problem with the NetworkRecorder solution that sub wrote about?

I am attempting to get this working with 3.1.1. I have configured the network recorder.xml with the tuner ports and when I go into the device screen every time it pops up add missing device multiple times and keeps adding to list. I would certainly like a native solution....please Smile

Clearly you didn't follow the very important instructions on the wiki on shutting down the recording service making the changes and restarting service. Unfortunately tuner plugins are not easy because they are hooked into the NextPVR application and recording service.

Compress and upload your npvr.db3 and xml file and I will fix it to start from scratch.

Thanks for your help, I will do that tonight. However I am certain I did shut it down. I went into the services screen and stopped NPVR recording service and put the plugin and xml file into the users/public/npvr/plugins directory and restarted the service and launched npvr. Went into the devices screen and it started the endless loop of adding missing devices.

Right, it sounds like you missed steps 4 & 5 on when you should launch NextPVR
