Transcoding Live TV to Android

This makes sense to me. VLC does more than just transcode, it provides a buffering and transcoding http streaming server. Also the ffmpeg that comes with NextPVR is obsolete and someone is going to need to take the effort to come up with good transcoding command line options and most users don't bother to tune it for their broadcast streams.

I use VLC quite successfully with X-NEWA and suggested that Brian try it too. The NEWA interface is moving to JSON which will make VLC easier to implement for other apps.

To be honest I don't know what I'm going to do with transcoding but it won't be an immediate fix - sorry, I've still got a fair amount of things on the "To Do" list which I need to get in line first.

EDIT: I've just been looking at the new version of NEWA and done some (very) basic tests and it looks workable to use VLC via the new NEWA API calls which fit much better with the way nDroid works. My comment above still holds though - I'm not sure when it'll happen as I'll need to rework a chunk of my code for it to be of any use.
