Yep it was an iso problem.... like only 1/3 the size it was supposed to be.... I'm still surprised it would actually boot from it at all???
I have spent all the free time I have had, since getting the replacement iso, getting it up & running & configured the way I like things on this old pc.... including getting NextPVR & all my plugins etc. up & running again so I can test things out.... mostly I figured the win7 layout/location changes fairly easily.... for the few I couldn't find myself google was my friend <grin>
The reason I wanted to test it out first was two fold
1: being to learn something about using win7 sitting in a confortable chair (not kneeling on the floor like I have to do when working on the server)
2: seeing how it would run on old hardware.... which totally blew me away... I was expecting it to run like a donkey like all the previous versions have when I have tryed installing them on older hardware.... but it actually runs better than xp ever has... this is on an Athlon 64+ 3000 (real speed 2000) single core with 2gb ram installed on an old 100gb ide drive (as opposed to xp which is on my sata drive)
Next is to get it istall on the server & see if it makes a difference to the DVB recordings I guess I hope I don't have as many "find drivers" issues with that computer as I had with this one.... I never could find ones that would work for the Promise 376/378 sata raid controller, or the Realtek onboard sound...

Have you tried using a remote control application? With that you can work on your server from any PC. Remote Desktop, TeamViewer, UltraVNC, LogMeIn, etc. all make those tasks easier.
i3-3570k, 8GB RAM, Win10 Pro, Nvidia GT710, HDHomeRun (OTA), NPVR 6.x On a clear disk, you can seek forever...
Yes & I will be later But currently I'm talking about a whole new clean install, finding win7 drivers (hopefully) & all.... as far as I know you can't do all that stuff remotely.
Due to unexpected visitors etc. turning up when I was part way through getting prepared..... I am able to confirm still running xp but removing the pvr-500's has not fixed the problem....
Ok so now it's just past five days since getting it all into production with the old PC Win7 & NextPVR, it's three days since I last did a re-boot & all five recordings of the news were totally glitch free (I'm still in slightly busy work mode currently so don't get any time to watch anything else currently) but from what I can gather all the new stuff recorded for the Boss has also been glitch free..... it has never gone that long without glitched before so I'm all fingers crossed & hoping for the best but (maybe) starting to relax a little bit now
So thanks heaps for the advice guys & I must also give a special HUGE THANKS to whurlston for his support as without it I wouldn't be where I am now....
