Hi All,

I'm running nextpvr 3.1.1, downloaded on the 24/12/13. with a blackgold 3602. Satellite works with DVBviewer, I installed it as a test when it didn't work with next pvr. The error I get is "unable to start device: device failed to start". I'm running on windows server 2008 r2, have installed the BDA drivers, and the blackgold drivers. in the log file I get the following halfway down.

So you'd think the DVB-T tuner wasn't being seen, but the scanning of channels for satellite also just hangs at "Scanning: 10714/H/22000/56"
In device manager I have entries under "Sound, video and game controllers" of AMD high definition Audio device, Blackgold DVB-S2 Device and Blackgold DVB-T2/T/C Device"

The fact that the DVB-T isn't seen seems to be a driver issue, any suggestions?
The satellite side works with DVBviewer, so the hardware for this part is fine. Its another driver issue.

Any suggestions anyone?

Thanks.

With those log messages "7231 BDA DVBT Tuner" should be listed on the Settings->Devices screen.

Can you post a screenshot of what your Settings->Devices screen shows?

Hi julianharmer,

First, check to see if the graph filter list in your NPVR log includes MPEG-2 Demultiplexer, or if the log contains a message "FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: MPEG-2 Demultiplexer." If I remember correctly, the usual BDA fix for 2008 r2 doesn't give you Microsoft's demultiplexer, without which NextPVR will not work.

Have you installed the R1a patches? Current Patch 1 in particular was created for a Blackgold 3650 user who was getting "unable to start device" errors. The 3650 uses the same drivers as the 3602, although it does not support DVB-S. There are actually two driver versions available for download, 9.1.0.1 and 8.1.1.2.

Thanks your for your help. In the NPVT.log I found the following entry "2014-01-06 15:55:30.247 [DEBUG][1] FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: MainConcept (HCW) MPEG Multiplexer-Plus"

The drivers I downloaded were the current ones, in Device manager it says version 9.1.0.5.

I cant find the MPEG-2 demultiplexer for Windows server 2008 r2, so I looked at the "main Concept" video Codec pack. Will that be ok?

I've tried to attache the screen shots.

I really apprechiate your help.

You only need the "MainConcept (HCW) MPEG Multiplexer-Plus" filter if you're intending to do analog. It only appears in your log when it's checking for any analog devices.

There is no version written specifically for 2008 r2. It's the kind of thing that PCs have but servers don't have. Only Microsoft's MPEG-2 Demultiplexer will work with NextPVR. In your first post you mentioned installing BDA components. Is this the link you used? http://win2008workstation.com/forum/view...=22&t=1023

That link has appeared on the forum several times and I don't know of a better one, but you would not be the first to emerge without an MPEG-2 Demultiplexer. If that is your situation, at least one 2008 user found this post by svet-am to be helpful: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post445933

If you can't understand that post, don't feel bad because neither can I. Smile If you happen to own a PC, using that for HTPC instead of the old server would be your simplest solution.

I have a revo 3610, running XBMC, want it to link to next PVR, spent £139 on a card, plus another £70 on cables and Oct LNB. I'd have to buy a HTPC, whic would probably result in divorce! I have to get this running on a windows server. The anoying thing is that it works in DVB viewer, so I know the actual driver is good, as is the hardware. It's something to do with nextPVR.

Any suggestions?

Please
