Looking for low power, low cost, XBMC Frontend with NextPVR backend

It is my understanding that if you have an MX2 device running the latest 1.1.6 Android firmware, you need the file with "NEWMTD" in the name - those are "new uboot" format

If you are on a previous ROM then you can use the other build - or I assume upgrade first to 1.1.6

I went back to Android and await the update that may fix the issue at some point. I can play 720p recordings effectively even with that build using "ndroid" Nextpvr app to browse the recordings and play them through the built-in video player - select "no transcoding". Haven't tried live TV with this method but it should work also. For some reason I get sporadic failures using the "ndroid te" tablet version for streaming, even though it has a nicer UI for the MX2. It seems to hang on stream start half the time.

Thanks again for the information. It always seems to be one thing or another hardwarewise keeping me from switching to NPVR. I'm debating if I should stick with Android or flash Linux. I'll probably hold out for the 1080p update and see what happens.

Matricom has an alpha posted that may solve....I may try it but wish I could more easily backup the unit

ccihon, are you concerned with something other than XBMC? If it's only XBMC, and you probably already know this, I've used XBMC backup in the past. With the OUYA, I ftp'd in and grabbed all my XBMC stuff, did a software upgrade (not firmware flash) and then ftp'd my data back over.

Please let us know if you give the firmware a try. I've got a lot of things going on for the next two weeks so I won't have time to try it for a while.

I just purchase a RPI for a second TV using OpenElec I Installed Nxtpvr on it enabled it went into XBMC settings turned on the TV settings used the 127.0.0.1/8866/0000 in the setup but the RPI keeps having a pop up screen saying no client found . My HTPC is in another room with 2 OTA cards in it working fine on that XBMC setup. Now im thinking maybe the RPI cant share over my home network to the second location

Rickt1962 way off topic but you need to use the IP of the NextPVR server. Open a new support thread in the XBMC to follow up.
