Need help troubleshooting npvr finding no channels

I have an AverMedia M791 that I harvested from another computer, so I have very little software to go along with it.

I hooked it up and ran it through windows media center and it was able to find channels 2-54 plus a handful higher than that

So I installed npvr which found two devices, one QAM and the other ATSC (which makes sense as the card has input for both), selected the QAM tuner and started it scanning. It found nothing, no channels.

I don't really know where to go troubleshooting from this point... I know a signal is coming in because media center is fine, so what should I be looking at next?

For analog channels you need softpvr installed. Search here and the wiki for lots of info.

There's no clear QAM to speak of in most of Canada.

Hauppauge softpvr, even though its not a hauppauge card?
