JimF is reporting that the recording keeps going; as that's not happening here (I have no cablecard device), I'm wondering if it's a further bug related to this?

Ok if you record from the guide and don't move off it in the guide you can cancel.
If you move off it. it Removes the Red and acts as if it is not recording but it is. You can go to recordings and cancel it. but when you go back to the guide it is now red. it seems like it is negative logic.

I just tried with the new version (not cablecard) and I can cancel but the red doesn't go away.

That's the intended behaviour. Johnsonx42 ask for playable recordings to also be listed in red in the TV Guide, so this means completed or cancelled recordings stay red.

I think it is plain dumb, I often cancel a recording so I can watch it live to free up a disk space.

Cancelling a recording would have never deleted it though, so in that scenario, you would have still had to go to the Recordings screen delete it. In this case, you could either have 'watch' that recording, or 'delete' it, while staying in the TV Guide screen.

If it proves an unpopular change, I'll revert it back to how it was. I'm not fussed either way on this change.

I didn't mean immediate deletes , its deleting recording time. eg I watch hockey which has 3 periods. I might start recording and stop recording in the intermissions. I don't want to have to immediately delete period one so can either watch or record period two with this chance the whole show is blocked. Likewise for auto racing I love the starts which I often replay, and then I sporadically watch live tv until the end of the race. to have to delete the start of the race to do that makes no sense.

Ok, I see what you mean. I'll see what Johnsonx42 has to say. It's likely I'll put it back to how it was though, with an option to have it worked the way he wanted.

The way I understood the request is if it is 8:30 and TBBT has finished recording it would be nice to Play/Delete from the guide just like when you record live and that makes sense, in fact that seems to work well and there is no red bar at the top. My issue is when the show hasn't ended

The recording has finished, and in the same way as you can view it from the Recordings, you can view it from the TV Guide. If I changed the logic to only show it when the show has finished, then there is a period of time when prematurely cancelled recordings would not show up in the TV Guide.

I kinda' agree with Martin, but does the shows(s) have to be red in the guide AFTER is has finished recording, could it not just have a red bar (aka watched indicator in Recordings)?
