Hi

I am having a problem with the OSD in Liveview. I get the overlay, but no Picture (Black Screen). I have a LifeView TV Walker mini (USB 2.0) Version. I get a (poor quality) picture using the native Software it came with (TV Walker), with all channels.

I have updted quatz.dll from DirectX 9b and updated to the most recent MPEG2 driver for PowerDVD 5. No joy.

Can anyon ehelp with this log below?

Thanks & rgds

Kristian

Hiya,

Not sure whether to tack this onto the previous one or not.

I have managed to get GBPVR working at a stuttering playback in Liveviw about 1 in 10 times. The remainder of the time I get a Windows error in Remote.exe, which ahs only ever been referred to once before, as far as I can find, by hitek.

http://www.tv-cards.com/messageboard/vie...=25&t=5506

I have installed the latest driver from the 1.8.0.0 Lifeview website, but not the latest Software 2.29.4 as I "believe" this is in Japanese or some other language with a two-byte thingy (very technical expression there) that leavs you looking at lots of question marks. i.e. I am using v 2.28.

Searching GBPVR doesn't throw this problem up much and it doesn't appear much elsewhere.

Can anyone throw any light on this error at all?

Thanks!

remote.exe isnt a GB-PVR file.

By the name of it, I'd guess its what the LifeView uses for talking to the remote control. Considering GB-PVR doesnt support the LifeView remote, your best bet might be to kill remote.exe before starting GB-PVR, then it definitely wont cause this error.

Thanks Sub,

I'll give it a whirl when I get home tonight. I think I read somewhere GBPVR wouldn't be supporting the remote, I guess that's still the case i.e. no plans in future?

Cheers

I'm going crazy...

This http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...light=MDAC describes exactly what is happening to me:

"when i press live tv it just sits there for about 30 seconds and then lets me move around the menu again"

I just can't pin it down. I got it going ONCE, for one channel, after a reinstall of GBPVR, but when I tried to change the channel, Black Screen. Thereafter, black screen, when I tried to change the channel back and after every restart after that. The thing works fine in the Native App, TVR (it's a GO700... device, a Lifeview TV Walker Mini). I get 4 broadcast channels in the TVR, but I like the idea of a PVR. The Lifeview TV Walker Mini is also being produced (rebranded) here as a "Sinovideo Nicam TV USB", from some co. called shooting.com.hk, in case anyone is searching for this.

I've read heaps of error messages on this forum. Every time I see something I think "that must be it". I go home and try it until 2am. No joy.

1a. I've installed MS Net 1.1. I don't need MDAC as I run XP. I checked it anyway and it's 2.81. I have DirectX9c and have reverted back to the old DX9b quartz.dll file (I think the official MS SDK version now includes the downgrade anyway...?)

e.g. http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...light=MDAC
e.g. http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...light=MDAC
e.g. http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...light=MDAC

1b. I've also deinstalled unnecessary codecs
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ght=Walker

2. I've tried a heap of different combinations of various MPEG2 Video Filters/Codecs (Moonnlight's Elecard, Cyberlink, Intervideos WinDVD, NO Codec Packs, NVidias) together with live preview off, encoder pass-through, interlace. i.e. Tried disabling live preview mode, or set the deinterlacing setting to 'encoder pass-through'.

3. I've tied selecting Overlay Manager instead of VMR9 or VMR7 in the Playback tab. Lots of threads about that

4. I've used FreqShifter, FreqCopy and added the ferquencies in by hand, using the frequencies from the ini file in the TV Walker (mini) TVR program. I've read so much about frequencies my head hurts. (I have to do this as there is no setting for Hong Kong where I live, but I found a frequency/channel table and they're very close to what lifeview found. I will post the frequency info later for other Hong Kong users, as some channels are --- or +++, i.e. offset frequncies but actually if you copy and paste from the Native Program its enough). It's identical to UK (PAL_I) anyway, so I used that, and I tried the Registry edit approach for the 44-0 code, for UK broadcast, but I understand you can just as easily use 0-0 for the US, as long as you choose US in the GBPVR Config.

5. I have an older ASUS V7100 Geforce2 MX200 Video Card which I understand doesn't do DX9 natively. If I KNEW a new Video Card would help, I'd buy one like a cheap FX5200, but it'd be silly to just buy one without knowing. Yes, I have the latest drivers.

6. I've seen some previous threads about the walker working in an older GBPVR release (some issue with MPEG2), but I can't try that as sthe version is not posted (on purpose, and I understand that) e.g. http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ght=Walker

7. Sub released NativeUtilities.dll updates but it was only for BDA devices IIRC.

8. I've read subs FAQ post http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...light=MDAC and the http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Manual/LiveTv Manual.

9. Shold I just biff the Walker and get a Hauppage like this fellow?
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ght=Walker

I can send that MPGMuxer Data (later though, I'm at work) if you need it, but it's a GO700... device, not a BDA one.
I attach my log files (hope thes are what you need). The "error" and "failed" bits I could see are reproduced below.

I know you're busy sub (or anyone), but I would really, really appreciate some help, if you get time.
I've tried, I really have.

k.

Just ignore that. Its normal with the TV Walker drivers.

This isnt a great channel to be testing, as channel '1' is usually invalid and will result in these sorts of error messages. Most broadcasters transmit on channel 2 and above. Edit you capture source, and check your channel numbers. This is not the logical channel '1' that your TV is tuned into but rather the physical channel number that represents the frequency it's broadcast on.

Also try setting the deinterlacing to 'encoder passthrough', or disabling live preview mode entirely (see misc tab in config app).

Just wanted to close this out and say it's now working and was indeed the EPG setup. I now use the channel numbers that are (close to) the channel numbers assigned by scan in the native TVR walker application of 49, 51, 53 and 55.

Big thanks to sub, who does sterling work.

I need to tweak the slight jerkiness in LiveTV, but all in good time. At least there is no more black screen.

Will make a new post shortly regarding the Hong Kong frequencies, for others who may need the help I was seeking ont those. There are lots of "offset" frequencies with 49+++ and 51--- etc.

Cheers,

k.
