Hello

I am wondering if anyone might be able to suggest to me a tv tuner card for my HTPC.

I have a Freeview aerial so believe I am looking to put in a DVB-T2 card and can only find two contenders (im looking for at least two tuners), and was wondering if anyone had any comments or suggestions on these and\or other cards i may not know about. The two cards I am looking at are TBS 6285 and Hauppauge WinTV HVR 2200.

Lastly, I wonder if anyone knows how recording works with these cards if the pc is off ? Does the PC automatically wake\shut down for the recording ?

Many thanks for your help in advance.

Can't comment on the specific cards for you since I'm in the US, but generally Hauppauge cards are best supported. My HVR-2250 has been full of nothing but win since the day I got it, and mine is simply the US ATSC/QAM/NTSC version of the HVR-2200.

As to your second question, yes, NextPVR will wake the PC for recordings, and allows it to sleep as defined by the Windows power settings. If the PC is actually off (as in Shutdown), then no, it won't power on by itself as far as I know.

The Hauppauge WinTV HVR 2200 is just a DVB-T card.
TBS6285 PCI-E DVB-T2/T/C Quad Tuner Card (This is a bad card, I have so many problems with it)
TBS6281 PCI-E DVB-T2/T/C Dual Tuner Card
Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2200 PCI-E

DVB-T and Analog (with hardware encoder).

Yes I know that of course, but my post was in response to the threadstarter's post which asked for a DVB-T2 card, so that's why I just wrote that it's only a DVB-T card.

PCTV nanoStick T2 is one of the few T2 USB dongles.
