I am curious, does NPVR do anything special with the feed it gets from the PRIME ?
What I mean is, say you have NPVR doing a recording, and then you do another recording via the PRIME itself.
Once done, if you compare the recordings, they are not the same, and the one on NPVR is usually bigger.
They don't even match while doing a hex diff of the files.

http://192.168.1.18:5004/auto/v188?duration=3720 (3720= 1 hour and 2 mins)
Have NPVR record same channel, with 1 min pre and 1 min post padding.

I am thinking NPVR is doing extra processing on the stream ?

npvr doesn't buffer or process anything, it just writes the stream to disk as an transport stream (which is slightly different than a program stream which might be what the prime writes on it's own, I'm not sure). NPVR does add timing data to the file, but that's a separate data stream (filename.ts:timing.info) and also a tiny bit of metadata (filename.ts:metadata.xml).

Yep, what he said - the .ts file is bit for bit what the HDHomeRun sent. It's not manipulating the stream in any way.

Just curious:
When you say "do another recording via the PRIME itself", exactly what do you mean?
How do you use the Prime without some type of recording app?

I gave an example, in the initial post... auto = pick whatever tuner that is open & unlocked, v188 is the channel, and the other is the time period.
