So you can picture the scene, I'm sure... I set a series to record any NEW episodes on a channel and it works absolutely great!
Wife comes along and decides she's going to do the same.... and again!!! (assuming she forgot she'd already done it)
I have three tuners, so as requested npvr records 3 copies of the same thing - totally understandable! It used up all the tuners and I then couldn't watch / record something else.... any way of making the subsequent requests to record the same thing automatically ignore themselves!?!?!? I have ticked the prevent duplicate recordings bit in npvr settings, but I guess this is slightly different.

Ta,
John

I just double checked. When you've scheduled a recording of a show, the TV Guide shows that show as bright red. If you press enter on that show, it just gives options to 'Update' or 'Cancel, not an option to schedule a new recording.

Even if you did manage to schedule recordings for the same show, assuming you're using digital tuners, it'll only use a single tuner.

Thanks for the reply... sorry, should have mentioned, they were scheduled via XBMC... so perhaps the interface there isn't checking as well as yours.... I was surprised about the tuner use too... I picked three different digital tuners to record the same show... i checked in the status window... I'll try and reproduce it and attach some logs. :-)

Sub: Especially with the new "season" kicking off right now in the US, many of the new shows are being aired multiple times in the same week. As I go through the guide looking for new shows to schedule, I come upon these "second showings" that (rightly so) are not red because that particular episode was already (scheduled to be) recorded earlier. But, NPVR will happily let me select this second showing and schedule another, identical recurring recording. Then upon subsequent EPG scheduling, new episodes get scheduled to be recorded multiple times.

for the next release, sub has fixed the issue where it records the same episode multiple times. You can still be clever enough to create duplicate recurring recordings, but it won't actually record more than once.

Sounds like a great update - any heads up as to when that's likely to be released? Is the release cycle roughly 6 months, or does it depend more on how much time Sub's had to develop?

Cheers,

It's usually every 4 or 5 months, but I've been busy and out of the country for a bit, so it's taking a little longer than normal. Hopefully it'll be in the next couple of weeks.
