Thanks again. My problem was - I wasn't using the Movies plugin! Instead I was hoping to make the native Videos module work. But having tried the plugin, it works perfectly with the NFO files that YAMMM creates so that's all fine now.

the movies plugin is a quality piece of code. you just need to select the rebuild option off the top menu whenever you add new movies that you have processed.

As I mentioned previously, the native videos plugin works just fine with the metadata files created by Mediacompanion so I am not sure what the problem was that you experienced.

The problem was that I wasn't using the Movies plugin! Now I am and it's fine.

YAMMM works OK but the info is a bit limited so I'm about to try out MediaCompanion. Any particular settings out of the dozens (!) that I should pay special attention to?

Not really, you can fiddle with the choice of movie db and find what works best for you, and enable downloading of trailers if you want them.
