For quite some time I've been having annoying pauses (at least 10 seconds) each time I stop playback (doesn't matter if it was a divx, mpeg or timeshifted tv that was playing).
Yesterday, I decided to find out what the problem was. After doing all sorts of stuff (making sure gbpvr.mdb gets properly compacted etc) I finally removed one plugin at a time. As soon as I removed MyVideos, the problem went away (it also decreased the time it takes for gbpvr to start significantly).

I tried getting the latest version of MyVideos, but as soon as I installed it the pauses came back. I should probably add that I am only using the basic functionality of the plugin so I don't have any of the third-party tools that you're supposed to download to get things like DVD-creation etc to work.

I've tried to (casually) look at the log files, but at first glance I haven't found anything that indicates a problem. I don't think there is any activity going on during the pauses, so my guess is that the plugin is trying to do something that eventually times out.

Is this something that sounds familiar to anyone?

the problem is most likely to do with "paused movies", it refreshes the entire paused movies list, meaning they have to look up the info for each file again and add them to the list, and this might take a while if you have lots of paused movies. ive fixed this problem (well kind of) and you can get the new version at the wiki, but you MUST disabled the "Paused Movies" feature, to do this uncheck "add paused movies to virtual root" and uncheck the "Paused Movies" button from the Main Menu tree in the config application.

there may be one or two more things in the updated version that i forgot about (it could also be extremely buggy, but i doubt it Smile)

Thanks for looking into this. I don't have any "Paused Movies" to uncheck from the Main Menu tree in the config. It is not listed in the config.xml either. In the GB-PVR application is it shown. I still have the slowness. MyDatabase.mbd is accessed hundreds of times during the exit of a movie/recording.

Reven, unfortunate - I'm sure. It is not there. By selecting Paused Videos in GB-PVR then it list 200+ movies/recordings.

Tipstir: I'm not using MVP. The L2 Cache is enabled in the BIOS.

Thanks Reven! I'll try this out when I get home later today.

rogerb take screenshots of the my videos settings in the config app to show they arent there, since if "paused movies" is showing up in my videos, it should be there in the config app.

or you could just delete the movies from paused movies that you dont want, well delete the paused points, by pushing the red button.

doing what tipstir said may improve things, but the problem has nothing to do with your system, its the amount of paused files you have, its looking up info for 200 movies everytime a video stops, you must either disable feature or reduce the number of paused movies you have.
