It may be both. Here we'v had digital cabel for years but some channels (like the national channels) are still transmitten analog via cable.

Analog Tuners/Capture Devices:
For ALL analog capture devices, you will need the Hauppauge SoftPVR components from WinTV7. If your Analog capture source does not show up in Devices, then the needed components are missing. If you are receiving the signal by cable from a provider (and not just a common antenna from a multiflat building) you need a dvb-c tuner, not a dvb-t.

just to clarify a little... from the tv cable i have internet and cable (just cable without any tv box or decoder) but from the same cable i can (if i pay) get all digital channels using a decoder.

It sounds as if you are receiving an analogue signal from your cable. Is your TV a new digital TV or an older analogue TV?

If the signal that is coming in on your cable is analogue then you will need to install SoftPVR. If the links don't work, then you can find the SoftPVR page in the wiki ... the link to the wiki can be found at the top on the right of http://www.nextpvr.com
