I assume somewhere within the last day you have re-verified that your system can create recordings on a local path? The other reason for a zero-length file is if you get no data from the tuner. Just want to make sure we're not so single-mindedly barking at the samba share that some other problem doesn't get overlooked.

Personally I don't understand the reluctance upload logs if you want support. If you are using ShareHelper and it is configured to use the same samba account that works from other machines it is probably not a permissions issue unless ShareHelper is configured wrong. I think there even is a sharehelper.log you could be falling back to guest

yes, I was meaning to ask you if there is a log for sharehelper.

@chicagobob, martin is right, you really do need to be uploading logs each time... without them we're left to simply assume that the problem is what you say it is. just say what time and show was your most recent test so we know where to look.

Normally I am doing some of this at night then going to the forum during the day from work, like now.

BTW you do have firewall exceptions for NextPVR.exe, NRecord.exe and NDigitalHost.exe, don't you? Can you still see live TV?

Not that I know of. I turned off firewall stuff a long time ago.

OK I really dont know what started to work or how. I went home last night and start to try and record anything even locally. I noticed that since installing sharehelper I was not even recording tv to my local drive. So all I wanted was to go back to the way it was before and at least record locally so I ran sharehelper /u and went to record a show and low and behold I recorded to my network drive. Like Magic. And the quality of this combo (HDHomeRun and NextPVR) was fantastic. I recorded two shows (not simultaneous yet) but I did record and and playback at the same time which worked without a hitch.

So now I am afraid to shut the PC off or reboot Rolleyes

Just wanted to say thanks to everybody, I am happily recording shows.
I am having a couple of small issues but they are the kind that I dont care much about.
schedulesdirect.org does not have all my channels not sure why they are short a couple.
I mentioned it to them but nothing has gotten fixed.
In short I am recording and playback and able fast forward over over the commercials.
Cool.

You might want to install Comskip to automatically skip the commercials in your recordings Smile
