I noticed in the latest version of NPVR that episode number is no longer present in the event_detail column in the scheduled_recording table. Was this change intentional? I believe the episode number was present in the previous version although it was rarely accurate (not NPVR's fault though). Anyways, I was just curious, thanks.

Here's an example from the scheduled_recording table:
Code:
<Event>
  <OID>2795421</OID>
  <Title>Glee</Title>
  <SubTitle>Jagged Little Tapestry</SubTitle>
<Description>Kurt and Rachel are faced with struggles as they try to rebuild and co-direct the glee club; Becky brings her new boyfriend to town, leaving Sue feeling concerned.</Description>
  <ChannelOID>7165</ChannelOID>
  <StartTime>2015-01-17T02:00:00.0000000Z</StartTime>
  <EndTime>2015-01-17T03:00:00.0000000Z</EndTime>
  <FirstRun>true</FirstRun>
  <OriginalAirDate>2015-01-16T00:00:00.0000000</OriginalAirDate>

And here's the matching EPG data:

SD JSON is the way to go, but the real question for sub is from the mc2xml data does he parse

<episode-num system="onscreen">603</episode-num>

to get that info. Since some shows have more than 99 episodes a year, it is odd syntax.

I'm not sure where NPVR is storing the JSON data. Can you point me in the right direction? Thanks.

It doesn't that would be using SchedulesDirect as your EPG source.

Yep, I agree this is really what my question boils down to. Thanks.

It no longer attempts to parse the "onscreen" style of episode-number, since it's pretty much just random text that can be in any format, and varies wildly between different grabbers in different parts of the worlds. It does parse other styles of xmltv episode number, like "xmltv_ns", which has a defined format.
