I MUST be missing something......

The way it works as far as I know (& the way it seems to work for me) is it picks the first scheduled recording & looks down the devices & as the USB is local only if it's an encrypted channel it is will move on down to the first prime turner that will record it, then onto the next scheduled recording, if local it will pick the USB tuner if not on down the list & so on, once the USB has been scheduled for a local channel if there is another local it will just move on to look at the prime tuners to if there is one free....

Of course way back years ago when I used to get conflicts I took a bite on the bullet & went out & spent some more money on more tuners so the problem just went away....money well spent Wink

Obviously, it depends on how and when you schedule your recordings, but if your USB tuner was at the top of the list, it would be the first to be allocated a local channel recording which means that there is a greater chance that the Prime tuners would be available for non-local channels.

I have a similar setup with DVB-T (SD channels only) and DVB-T2 tuners (all channels) - I've always had my DBVB-T tuners at the top of the list.

That's why the logs are so important. I see Monday night is wicked for tuners because of the some weird things like NCIS LA starting at 9:59 The Bachelor going to 10:01, and Castle starting at 10:01 too.

OK, so I've added a second USB QAM tuner and moved them to the top of the order which should fix the conflict but it's still showing. The Channels show as having 5 sources (2 QAM & 3 Prime Cablecard) now and I've restarted several times and even done a -updatedb with no change. Does Npvr allocate the tuners at the time the recording is set or does it pick a tuner at the time of the recording? If it's set at the recording time is there a way to reset the allocation?

The conflict is this one:

Wednesday, February 04, 2015
10:00 PM - 11:00 PM Channel - 1066 TNT-HD
Grimm: Leave It to Beavers

The QAM tuner covers channels
109
1003
1007
1010
1013
1014
1049

A bit of both depending on the scenario. You can do an 'update epg' those to force to reallocated based on the current tuner setup.

They get updated when the epg updates, or when you run

nextpvr -recurring

We would have needed the logs from the epg update before the tuner was added.

Also conflicts never just disappear you have to delete the entry
