FYI, the NextPVR project is going to move to a new web hosting provider soon. The current dedicated hosting hasn't been too bad, but there has quite a few network outages, the hardware is now pretty dated (slow backups etc), and some issues relating to spam reputation of the hosting provider (leading to some ISPs blocking registration emails etc).

The new dedicated server costs slightly less, and is significantly better hardware.

I've started moving some of my other web sites. NextPVR and the forums will most likely be moved this weekend, and will be offline for a few hours during the move.

We're now on that new server. Let me know if you notice anything strange.

yeah, honestly had no idea the change had happened. so far it actually seems a bit quicker too, but that could be just my imagination.

Yep, seems quicker browsing for me too.

The backups are definitely a lot quicker. Used to take about 10 minutes. It's now taking 1.5 minutes.

The old server was a Celeron D 2.8Ghz, with 1GB of RAM, 100Mbps network connection. The new one is an i5 with 8GB, and 1Gbps network connection.

Honestly, I'm surprised how well things went. With having to migrate databases, websites, forum etc, I was expecting something to go wrong. The only issue I found related to emails sent often ending up in a spam folder, but that was an issue with the old server too. I've spent some time focusing on that, correcting the DNS SPF records, and contacting a couple of spam lists to correct the ip addresses reputation, couple of other things, and I think these issues are now resolved. Let me know if anyone see any email issues.

Yes, seems faster now I've used it a bit. Possibly not faster as such, but occasional hesitancies have gone away.
All the posts in this thread ended up in my gmail spam folder, but it looks like my email forwarding host has had some naughty users and gmail is flagging all their stuff - so nothing wrong here by the looks of it....

p.s. it is faster.

I'll keep an eye on these types of reports. I want to work through any email issue to get it behaving well.
