A plugin that allows the user to enter programs by name and be alerted if and when they appear in the EPG. For example one could enter the movie "Logan's Run" and be alerted when that movie first appears in the EPG. The user would be presented with a "Record" option for each program appearing on the list.

The same idea occurred to me yesterday. I think this would be a very handy feature. Perhaps a config option could allow matching programs to be automatically scheduled for recording, as opposed to having to manually select 'Record' for each one. It would be good if entry of names was possible using the MVP remote's number keys (mobile phone style). It would also be good if it supported partial name matches and/or wildcards.

if you want it to be auto recorded or at least scheduled you can use xrecord as is. Go to scheduler. You can do partial, by description, by subtitle, date and time restrictions etc...

I am a big fan of record and forget. So it is easier for me to record everything I might want (you can control priorities in there as well) and then delete it if I change my mind.

Xrecord with the scheduler function (aka CDK scheduler) is exactly what you need.

This is how I schedule everything now. I've got over 140 shows and series in there so that they schedule automatically when they pop into the epg guide. Some I have set up as a title match and some as title partial. Some I have set up on channel or time or channel and time. The shows can be moved up and down in priority. There are many posibilities.

By the way, Logan's Run is one of my shows in there right now.
