It's definitely trying to run it.

First thought - the recording service runs as the "localsystem" account. It probably doesn't access to your c:\users\ed directory.

OK. So I moved HipSend.exe to a HipSend folder in the Programs (x86) directory, opened up Device Settings and changed the location of the executable. Updated the configuration of the channels and it still did not tune the STB. I also checked the NRecord.log to make sure NPVR had the new location (which it did). I modified my .bat file for the new location and it works perfectly. Is there a better location for the HipSend.exe?

hmmm. I seem to remember reading in the distant past that maybe hipsend used the WM_COPYDATA (aka the clipboard) to transfer data to the main HIP software. The recording service runs as 'localsystem' which is a different desktop session (ie, also different clipboard). I suspect hipsend.exe is being run, but it's failing to communicate with the mothership.

You might want to experiment with the settings for the 'NPVR Recording Service' service. ie, try either 'allow service to interact with desktop', or switch it to run as your user account. Hopefully one of those two will get it running for you.

I looked up the NPVR Recording Service and found that it was already had the "allow service to interact with desktop" box checked. I tried to have the service log in under my user account, but that did not work either. I tried putting HipSend.exe in C; directory and in the NPVR program directory - still no effect. Unless there is something else to try, or maybe I just have to start from scratch again, or maybe it is time to try IR Server Suite? Is there a link for explaining how to set IR Server Suite up with NPVR? Thanks.

If you have working maybe try pBS's net2hipsend, http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...et2hipsend he might neeed to repost it for you.

Maybe I will try net2hipsend now. Tried installing the IR Server Suite following the instructions in;

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...rver+suite

Everything seemed OK, except I could not get it to learn an IR code. When I pressed the "Learn" button in the Translator app, it went to "Failed to Learn IR Code" just about instantaneously. I wonder if the latest version of the IR Server Suite is being used successfully or maybe an earlier version is the answer? I wanted to try an earlier version but could not find one.

So maybe tomorrow I will re-install HIP and give net2hipsend a try. Thanks.

Are you using only the built-in blaster of the usbuirt or do you have one or two ir-leds connected? From memory you have to address the individual blasterdiodes.

I am using the ir-leds connected to the usb-uirt. I have "All" checked in HIP when it learns the codes for the usb-uirt. When I run HipSend from the bat file it does change the STB station through the ir-led.

Well it looks like things have gotten tougher. With fooling around with HIP I have developed corrupt settings for the config and preferences. Unfortunately these don't seem to go away even when I uninstall HIP and reinstall it. I have searched for any remnants of HIP after the uninstall (Program Files, AppData, Reg entries, etc.) and when I reinstall I get the same config/preference settings (which it won't let me update). Anyone know how to get rid of HIP completely?

The IR Server Suite still does not work as it goes directly to a failed condition when I try to learn the IR codes (it does recognize the USB-UIRT in configuration).

I am going to give using the Hauppauge blaster and see if I can get that to work. If not, it may be time to look for another PVR software solution.

Thanks for the links to ways that this may be solved, but they are in the old Wiki and the downloads do not work anymore. I have tried PMing but have not gotten response.

Another question: has anyone implemented the channel changing capability (commanded from NPVR) in EventGhost? Again there seems to be references but no real explanation (at least that I have found).

Thanks.
