Greetings, I am VERY new to NextPVR. I happily bumped into it looking for a WMC replacement. For my HTPC, viewing live tv from my tuner card is flawless and I am in awe how easy everything is considering what messes other solutions seem to be.

However after failed searches I could not verify if viewing live tv from another PC was possible and if it was what was the best way.

Can anyone point me in the direction for that?

Thank You

the most straightforward (to me) is to install NextPVR and set it up as a client. you have to share your data folder from the server, then on the client go to Settings->Devices and click the "act as client" checkbox and give it your database path. after that you should immediately exit NextPVR on the client and start it again to ensure that it "knows" it's operating in client mode. http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?n=Client.PC

you can also setup KODI with the NextPVR add-on, and/or the X-NEWA add-on. http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?n=Client.XBMC (seems a little out of date though)

you can also use NEWA (the web interface, http://ip_of_npvr_pc:8866) along with VLC. http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?n=Manual.NEWA

lots of options. http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?n=Client.Client

a little bad poetry for you:

To your question
I reply oh-so-very-quick,
so that you might give that ol' Donate button
an itty-bitty little click

Actually I was considering doing just that! NextPVR seems to be the best thing going I can find anywhere for use with live tv.

I do have one more question. Where is this folder I should share on the server. Do you mean the "recording" folder? Also you refer to pointing the client to the database path. I am not sure where that is either. Thanks.

Well I think I might have answered my own question. I found the "npvr" folder in program files and shared it. However when I run my client it says it cannot find "nvpr.db3" and sure enough that file is not in the npvr directory. What might I be missing?

It's trying to find it's way to the c:\users\public\npvr directory on your server, which contains npvr.db3.

Often you can specify the share as \\servername\users\public\npvr, alternatively you can explicitly share the npvr directory for access via \\servername\npvr.

I was trying to post before anyone else had to but I found a forums FAQ post that explained that point. I got it up and running with NextPVR as the client and the backend. Thanks to everyone for their help it is GREATLY appreciated!
