Hauppauge Remote doesn't work after sleep

I've built a new HTPC running Windows 7 with NPVR (or course )and I have an odd issue. I'm using a standard Hauppauge remote which came with the Nova-TD Stick tuner and it's great... until Windows goes to sleep. After waking up (the remote doesn't wake the machine btw) the remote does nothing. nadda. not a sausage. Reboot the machine and it's fine again. Since the HTPC is intended to be on all the time and sleep when not needed this is an issue.

Anyone got any ideas why the remote works fine after a restart but is non-functional after waking from sleep?

I used to have that problem all the time with my old nova-t USB tuner as did plenty of people here and on the Hauppauge website. I got the nova-t 500 instead and my problems went away.
Check to see if your bios have an options to maintain 5V power to USB devices when PC is in sleep.
try a powered USB hub.
use the ir sensor on your Nova-t 500 instead (if you still have it).

Cheers gEd. I forgot I still had the spec on my old signature! That machine I still have and used to be the media hub but the newly dedicated media pc has a tiny tiny footprint (to live under the tv in the lounge) so no room for internal cards I'll look into the 5v bios option and maybe even check out the Hauppauge boards to see if anyone got a solution but it looks like it's one of those weird "you can't help it things". Alternative is a different remote I guess. I wonder if there's a page recommending remotes on this forum?

basically, you want an MCE remote and IR receiver (although the hauppauge remote might work with just a new IR receiver).

perhaps have a look on fleebay for "IR Remote receiver". I got the HP USB receiver and it works very well and only very rarely refuses to work upon resuming from standby.
the HP RC1804929/01B remote + IR receiver from China would probably work fine.

I now use it with a logitech remote that fires macros as I need to switch between media apps and control tv, amp and pc depending on whether I am watching tv or listening to music.

Sorry for resurrecting the thread, but I wanted to share a solution to at least part of this (the remote not working after waking up)
You can kick the remote with the Restart IR program that came with the drivers, and that seems to make it work for me. Since this worked I created a task to automatically do this ever time the PC wakes up.

Then I just grabbed the path to Restart IR from the start menu shortcut.
