I have trouble configuring the devices in settings of NPVR. It recognizes my tuner card ATI DBA digital (QAM) or Analog Tuner, but when I scan the channels, it goes through the 100 or more physical channels, but not register any. I started the NPVR service, before I did that; and that does not seem to do anything. Also, I can't find on KODI under settings NPVR as one of the addons. I am kind of stuck between the two issues before I can proceed any further.

Forget about Kodi entirely until you've got it working in NextPVR itself.

Try doing a scan, then post your npvr.log and we'll have a look.

You'll need to zip and attach your npvr.log so I can see the whole file. There are more useful messages that follow this.

There no sign of any problem there, and the app goes through the motions, but the device never locks onto a signal so never delivers any data to the application.

Does the software that came with the device find any channels? ie, confirming you've got it connected correctly, with a good cable, and adequate signal?

Also, I assume you're looking for digital cable (QAM), not old-school analog cable?

Yes, it's a digital cable. Unfortunately, the Catalyst (software) which came with the cd that came with the device is AMD and does not work with this intel computer. The disc only put up the drivers for it. Normally, there was no trouble in scanning and accessing the channel with Windows Media Center in Windows 7. I don't know what else I could do.

NextPVR just treats all QAM devices the same. It shouldn't have to do anything special for ATI devices. As far as I can tell, everything has gone fine, but the device never managed to log onto a signal.

On the screen with the scan button, you could try selecting 'HRC Cable Frequencies' instead of 'Default Cable Frequencies', and see if it makes any difference.

Alternatively, you might have to try googling about this device and QAM scanning. We've seen a couple of oddball devices in the past that have required special registry settings etc, to allow the tuner to do QAM.

I tried, without success, the HRC Cable Frequencies. I changed the cable (converter) box; checked the cables; reinstalled the drivers for the tuner card. This ATI TV Wonder 650 is not supported by windows 7, let alone windows 10. But the Windows Media center in Windows 7 accessed the tv channels all right, without any problem. I wonder why it doesn't work in windows 10 when it worked in windows 7. I can't find much help on google when I put in the search for "ATI TV Wonder HD 650 qam scanning doesn't work under windows 10 with NPVR". I can't seem to find any other help. Of course, I can restore the system back to Windows 7. But then I am worried that that might screw up the TV scanning as well some other things. I wonder if you have any further suggestions? Thank you.

Do you have an cable converter box between your cable connection and your ATI TV card? If so, then your tuner card is not receiving digital cable (QAM). It'll just be getting old-school analog. In this case you'd need to see the sticky thread about enabling analog support. In this type of setup you also wouldn't scan for channels - you'd typically important them, and set the input to fix CH3, or svideo/composite.

Big Grin I wasn't meaning search anything quite as specific as this. ie, we've come cross some tuners that have had issues scanning QAM in all apps, and just generally searching for QAM scanning issues for that device might have turned up something useful.
