I have a Hauppauge Win TV 7164 dual tuner.
NextPVR recognizes both tuners and each one shows as having 5 channels associated with it.
However, when I try to record 2 shows at the same time I normally get an error on one of the recordings that says "device failed to start"
Can someone point me in the right direction as to what settings I need to check/change?
Thanks!

Can you reproduce the problem, then zip and post your logs directory?

I have attached the log from yesterday. The problem happened at 8pm when "the muppets" failed to start recording Smile

Forgive me for asking ... but ... was some other software trying to use the second tuner? Windows Media Centre or WinTV, perhaps?

You probably should include your ndigitalhost logs, there is one for each tuner, 21 and 23. Just zip and attach the entire Logs folder by right clicking on the folder, Send to>Compressed Folder.

Also, check the tuner card in Device Manager and make sure both are OK (assuming the tuners appear separately).

As a test, in Settings>Devices you could change the tuner priority to so #2 (23) has higher priority and then try a recording. Or, select Reverse Priority for Live TV and try to watch a channel. The idea here is to force NPVR to use the second tuner (id of 23 in NPVR).

Then, wait for Sub.

Yeah, you'd need all the logs, including the ndigitalhost logs.

I did try to record and then watch another channel - it did not work.
I have attached the other 3 logs that I saw for yesterday.
Hopefully this will shed some light.
I used to use Windows media center, but moved to NPVR. it is possible that another program is trying to access the tuner but I do not know how to determine that.
Thanks for the help.

You're still missing bits we need. Can you restart the recording service and main UI (to reset the logs), then try again, then zip and attach your complete logs directory.

why do we go through this so often? seems like 5 times a week we spend a day-and-a-half convincing a new user (and sometimes not so new) to post logs, not just one log, not just the couple of logs he thinks are the right ones, but the whole logs folder, and no, not with 7-zip or winrar, those skip the current logs. posting the whole thing is easiest, just right-click, the Send To->Compressed (Zipped) Folder... why do we have to spend so much time arguing about it?

Maybe sub should build something into NextPVR to automatically zip the logs directory and upload it somewhere if the user selects "Support" on the main menu? ;-)
