your system doesn't know how to play .mp4 files with directshow. NPVR has no role in this, all it does is say "here, Windows, play this file". if you install SAF (see announcement forum) or MPC-HC you should be good to go.

It will not even play on KODI on my RPI through the NEXTPVR plugin but it will play outside of the NEXTPVR KODI plugin... I have tried FFDSHOW lav filters nothing works... using a PC Client

again, your system doesn't know how to play .mp4 files with directshow. it doesn't even have a source filter for that file type, as evidenced by the playback graph containing nothing but the output renderers... it isn't even getting to the point of needing decoders, because it can't even read the file.

Maybe we are misunderstanding each other ... On my NEXTPVR windows 10 server I have Sav6 installed ... what I am saying is that on my openelec system I cannot play MP4 through the NEXTPVR Plugin. There is no safe 6 for RPI. I can play the mp4's fine by not using the NEXTPVR KODI plugin. I I browse to the file using filemanager in openelec the MP4's play.

then I have no idea what you're talking about... your log is from NextPVR.exe, and you said in your second post you were using a PC client and talked about ffdshow and LAV filters, none of which has anything to do with Kodi or RPI. If anyone else understands the question, jump on in. I'm out.

I appreciate your help... my first post was from a client but I understood what you said and am in the process of installing Sag6 on my PC Client .... but I seem to be having the same problem in my RPI. Sorry for any confusion I might have caused.

Sub only supports ts files to his clients, maybe try with x-newa.

Martin

That explains it all so I guess if I encode to TS files with H264 they should work? I will try X-NEWA and let you know.

EDIT
X-NEWA plays them fine.

Thanks Martin for the Info I thought I was going Crazy.
Guess I will just use X-NEWA from now on.

ok, sorry, your initial post didn't clarify you were on a client, and then the second post mentioned a client but I didn't realize you were using Recordings instead of Videos (the latter would work with .mp4), and then things were all confused with mentions of kodi/openelec/rpi by which point I was lost in the forest... glad Martin could still see the tree.
