My scanty research suggest that Presto is a streaming service that gets TV shows from The Internet and does not use a TV tuner device ... But I may be wrong 'cos it didn't spend much time looking. It may be that you all of your TV viewing and recording was done using Windows Media Centre.

Did you try an All Countries All Regions scan in NextPVR? The .ini files that specify frequencies for specific transmitters may be out of date so All Countries All Regions scans everything.

All all else fails .. do a scan and then zip and attach logs ... http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post480931

I am using version "86.1.521.2012" downloaded from the web site of the place I bought the tuner from. It is described as the R820T CD.

Searching for an update for the device finds nothing newer. However Windows Update offers an update but when it is installed you find it is version 86.1.304.2009.

Thanks Graham but this is a TV Tuner dongle. Presto is the TV/PVR software that came with it. Yes, I have tried scanning for All Countries, All Regions. I have also used other TV applications that worked perfectly in Win 7. I assume it's the driver that is not suitable for Win 10 64-bit.

I would be most grateful for any other suggestions - especially from the user who finally got his/her RTL2832U to work under Win 10!!

Thanks Chris. Am I right in thinking that 86.1.521 is for a 32-bit system? I have Win 10 64-bit. I've tried searching for 64-bit, Win 10 drivers associated with R820T CD but no luck so far.

NextPVR is 32bit!

Although the RTL dongle does not work on my HP Microserver I have been using it with a disk image of my 64bit Windows 8 NextPVR server on an old Pentium 4 box to fault find an missing EPG data problem. The problem I am having it that the driver on Windows update is 64.1.304.2009 keeps overwriting the newer CD version. This older version does not work so had to disable Windows Update on this test computer.

While NextPVR is 32bit, and uses 32bit decoders etc...when it comes to drivers, you always need to install the appropriate drivers for your system. ie on a 64bit system, you install 64bit drivers.

The best drivers are here:

http://www.ukwtv.de/cms/downloads-aside/...gsinn.html

Try Trieber2

Right click the two inf files to install them.
And then use have disk.

However win10 keeps replacing the drivers with others after a few minutes.
If you can get them to stay installed they might work.
Maybe you might have to overwrite some of the oem infs in c:\windows\inf with blank data.
Backup your system first and make sure you have downloaded the Win10 install dvds from the MS website.

Has someone managed to get a realtek 2832u tuner working under Win 10?

The problem here might relate to Windows 10 not allowing device driver updates.
The drivers appear to install and then seem to be discarded after a few minutes.

Windows 10 installs their own driver.
Unfortunately that also installs their driver with a dev class of 00 instead of FF which means if you want to write a universal app in VS2015 you can not access the device.

For more information see this MS video (about a third of the way through).

I have the RTL2832U/R820T and R820T2 Dongles working with Win10x64 and SichboPVR.
Driver here works for 32 and 64 bit: http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/Other-D...-x64.shtml

The problem getting it to work with Win10 is that default Device Installation Settings allow Windows to install or update with wrong drivers.
Installing the correct drivers after Windows has installed the wrong drivers does not fix the problem.

If Windows has installed the wrong drivers, you can unplug the Dongle, run a Window System Restore to a time before the Dongle was plugged in to the USB port, turn off the Auto Device Driver Update feature in Win10 (Device Installation Settings), plug the Dongle back in and install the correct driver from the supplied Driver CD or the above link.

The Realtek device with wrong drivers appear in Device Manager under "Sound Video & Game Controllers".

You may be able to uninstall the wrong drivers from Device Manager before installing the correct ones but I haven't tried that.
Running the System Restore, turning off driver updates in Device Installation Settings and installing the correct drivers gets it working!

Hi Pyroyd
Thanks for your help. I didn't like to turn off all updates but I did try a related experiment which proved interesting!

On the assumption that it is Win10 Update that is overwriting the working driver(s), I set my WiFi connection to "Metered" (to prevent auto-updates) and removed my Ethernet cable.

I then uninstalled my Realtek RTL2832U driver, checking the box to delete driver files. I then unplugged and reconnected the TV dongle. Windows then selected driver version 64.1.523.2011 WHICH WORKS PERFECTLY!!! I tried unplugging/reconnecting the dongle, I also rebooted the laptop, and everything still worked perfectly.

Later, after reconnecting my Ethernet (thus resuming the capability for auto-updates), Windows reverted to driver version 64.1.304.2009 which does not work. I also received a pop-up telling me there had been hardware changes and I should reboot.

To confirm what had happened, I repeated all of the above and got the same results.

The problem would therefore appear to be - how can I force Windows to keep version 64.1.523.2011 ??

I took screenshots of the Device Manager displays (Driver, Driver Details, and Hardware IDs). The working and the Failed setups are identical except for the Hardware IDs. The Failed IDs are USB\VID_0BDA&PID_2832&REV_0100 and USB\VID_0BDA&PID_2832. The working versions are exactly the same but have a suffix of &MI_00 on each line.
