How to turn on recording service? (unable to communicate with recording service)

That is good news, but why is the posting the logs bad news? I finally found the NEXTPVR logs, which one do I need to post?

I am using gothom, I was going to update to Kodi but wasn't sure how to do it so I didn't loose my addon's and most importantly watched history.

Where are the kodi logs, and which ones do you need?

The kodi log is called kodi.log. I can't remember the exact directory name (somewhere in %APPDATA%), so search for it. You'll need to enable debug logging in Kodi's settings screen.

Ok I have been a bit busy latley but finally had a chance to get these logs.

I basically enabled debugging then restarted the computer.

After a reboot I went directly into XBMC, opened live tv EPG and selected a channel. The first channel it said channel not available so I selected another one which worked. I watched it for a short while and then selected another channel to watch. This seemed to freeze xbmc for a short while and then it said tuner not available. Every channel I selected after said tuner not available.

The first thing I'd suggest doing is updating to a recent version of Kodi. Yours is from a long time back when it was still called XBMC.

I was looking to do this but how do you update and still keep the same plugin's and more importantly the watched history?

I don't use Kodi so I can't speak from my experience. I have read a couple of items in the Kodi wiki that say that settings are retained ...

Ok so this has been a complete disaster.

I updated to kodi, lost everything, all repo's, watched history, everything.

I went to use the next pvr in kodi and I get a few seconds of playback and then it pauses to buffer. It's unwatchable.

Any help would be appreciated.

The Kodi wiki describes how to get Kodi logs.

Zip and attache Kodi logs and NextPVR logs in a post that reports the date and time that you are seeing the symptoms. Is the problem when watching Live TV or watching recordings or both? Thanks.

Hello again, thank you for your reply.

I seemed to have fixed the problem by enabling time shifting in Kodi (the ability to pause, rewind the live tv you are watching). Things seem to work now, I am able to change channels without ant errors or freezing.

The odd thing is it only seemed to do it for certain channels.

Should I still post the logs or just call it fixed?

I can probably recreate the problem if I turn off time shifting in kodi.
