Sorry.

I ran it now with a command prompt: here is what I got:

SERVICE_NAME: NPVR Recording Service
TYPE : 110 WIN32_OWN_PROCESS (interactive)
START_TYPE : 2 AUTO_START
ERROR_CONTROL : 1 NORMAL
BINARY_PATH_NAME :
LOAD_ORDER_GROUP :
TAG : 0
DISPLAY_NAME : NPVR Recording Service
DEPENDENCIES :
SERVICE_START_NAME : LocalSystem

That means it installed with no path If NRecord, exe is properly installed you might be able to do this with an elevated command prompt.

SC CONFIG "NPVR Recording Service" binPath= "C:\Program Files (x86)\NPVR\NRecord.exe"

(Note I made a typo in original post - thank BrettB)

Most people in that part of the world use Schedules Direct. There is a few others use zap2.xml.

And how do I create and use it?

I've never used zap2xml, so can't give you any specific advice on that one.

For Schedules Direct, you head over to their website, create an account, then follow these general steps in NextPVR:

I did put in the line in an elevated command prompt screen and it carried it successfully. But when I press on the liveTV command now I get a black screen. I am not sure that the channels that it has listed are actually the correct comcast TV channels. I don't know what to do now. Do I really need a scheduler?

The Schedules Direct seems to be a paid subscription service. Do I really need it to play live TV?
I followed instructions from M.Vallevand above and set the path to the recording service straight. But now I get a black screen when I press on the LiveTV command. I am not even sure that the 31 channels that are showed (with unknown markings) are actually the Comcast TV channels. I don't know how to proceed from here.

No. You can watch tv without tv listings if you want. Having good TV listings makes life a lot simpler when it comes to knowing what's on TV and scheduling recordings though. If it's the money that's bothering you can always look into zap2xml

Probably worth trying to view one of these channels, then zip and attach your logs directory. We can check for problems.

I am attaching a zip file of the log. I am not sure what you mean by viewing one of these channels, as I only get a black screen.

Your problem might be related to the 'ATI MPEG Video Decoder'. Might be worth trying another decoder.

You could also check if a live tv buffer file gets created in your specified directory, and does it grow? can you copy the file, and try playing it in another player like VLC.
