I'm noticing that sometimes (not all the time), in the program guide a show that is set to record is not displayed in red as it should. I know the show is set to record because it appears correctly in the Recordings > Pending list.

Screen shots attached demonstrating what I'm describing. The show Chicago Fire should be displayed in red, but isn't.

Are up using Schedules Direct, or the ATSC epg?

If you do an 'empty epg' followed by an 'update epg', do the shows then mark red?

Yes, I did as you said and all shows scheduled to record now display in red. Thank you.

I have recently seen this situation with the X-NEWA client as well. But I haven't been able to figure out how to replicate it. I think that it has something to do with having the EPG nightly update happen behind the scenes while a client is already open (maybe it has to be displaying the guide?). It seems like the client doesn't properly notice/reload the recording list. It's strange though that the red bar at the top still shows that there are scheduled recordings. I'm pretty sure that simply exiting the client and restarting it will fix the display. I definitely don't have to empty and reload the EPG.

exiting and re-opening NextPVR.exe is enough to get the tv guide displaying the right shows in red. you'd think just closing the guide and opening it again would be enough, but it isn't. I'm never quite sure what causes this in the first place though... clearly it's a change to the scheduled recordings that NextPVR.exe doesn't notice, but I've never been able to make it happen on purpose.

edit: ok, one way to make it happen is to set a show to record from a client, and then view the TV Guide on the server; the tv guide entry won't be red, and selecting the show will give the options for a show that is not set to record (i.e. Record rather than Update). however I'm 100% sure I've seen this situation where no client was involved.
server: NextPVR 5.0.7/Win10 2004/64-bit/AMD A6-7400k/hvr-2250 & hvr-1250/Winegard Flatwave antenna/Schedules Direct
main client: NextPVR 5.0.7 Desktop Client; LG 50UH5500 WebOS 3.0 TV

By "client" do you mean NextPVR.exe running in client mode on another PC? Or do you mean something like the PCH or X-NEWA client interface? And when you did that, did the red bar at the top show that something was scheduled to record in that timeslot?

I was also just thinking about the EPG update process. As I understand it, not only do all of the recurring recordings get deleted and recreated, but also all of the EPG_EVENT entries for channels which have listings also get recreated with new OIDs. So maybe the Guide display is getting the new scheduled recording list (with the new event OIDs), but it is not reloading all of the EPG_EVENT entries with their new OIDs. Hence the recording list Event OIDs don't match the guide's timeslot Event OIDs (because they are still from the previous day's EPG). Just a thought...
