Shut down computer after recording

I have just installed and configured NextPVR on my HTPC. I am using Kodi as the front end. I have to say that your software works great! I have tried three different PVR backends with my system and yours is the only one that works. Great job! Now to my question.

I have configured my system so that the computer wakes up to make scheduled recordings. This part is working great. However I have found that after the recording, the backend does not shut down the computer. Is there some setting for this, or is that functionality not programmed in?

You have it backwards, you need to configure your PC to sleep on idle, you shouldn't have to do anything to wake it up, NextPVR does that.

Not sure there is an option to do that, however, you may be able to code something in postprocessing.bat file. See wiki here.

For example, you might be able to add the command below to put the computer in sleep mode:

"C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState"

I wouldn't recommend using post processing if you record back to back or simultaneous recordings.

I have been successfully using a system where I use a ParallelProcessing batch file to change power plan to High Performance(no sleep allowed) so that the computer will not go to sleep while a recording is taking place.

I monitor to see if any recording is taking place before I change the power plan back to Balanced to allow the computer to naturally go back to sleep. This takes care of back to back recordings etc.

I also had to change the Unattended Sleep Timeout from 2 minutes to 5 minutes because my computer was going back to sleep after waking before the recording started.

NextPVR doesn't try to send your PC to sleep because it has no idea what else is happening on your machine. Most people configure their PC to go to sleep after x minutes of inactivity. NextPVR will wake the PC when it need to start a recording, and tell Windows not to go to sleep while the recording is active. After the recordings are complete, Windows is free to go back to sleep if it wants to.

I've noticed in the last month or so that my server is sometimes staying awake for no apparent reason. Nothing has really changed unless a windows (7) update has upset things. It's been running almost faultlessly for years. A restart ges it back to normal for a few days.
There's nothing in the logs except the lack of the call to wakup.bat (or whatever it's called). Event viewer is likewise silent. powercfg - reguests loos fine...... bloody computers....

I have also recently started to notice my server is sometimes awake when it should be asleep. I found the MST software tool useful to cure Sleep problems with XP/Vista but it does not seem to have been developed past Windows 7.

I have configured my HTPC to hibernate after 60 minutes. Unfortunately that does not seem to work. Postprocessing batch file will not wprk either because many times I will be recording while doing something else. I need to look into why the PC will not hibernate on inactivity.
