I am having trouble viewing channels that I believe are switched digital video channels on my Windows 10 Nextpvr setup. I can view all my other channels. When I try to view the channel i just receive a black screen, all other 100 channels work. Is there any additional configuration that needs to be done to get these channels to work? I loaded my Windows 8 Image with media center everything else the same and media center was able to tune these channels fine so I know its not a wiring / signal problem

Here is my setup using Windows 10 and Nextpvr 3.5.7. Ceton Tuner InfiniTV PCI card with a Cox Cable Card. This is attached to a splitter that also has a Cisco STA1520 Tuning Adapter. I've also attached my NPVR.log file any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks

Are the channels that don't display protected channels, like HBO, Showtime, etc.? If so, Windows Media Center is the ONLY software that can capture those. Sad

The method NextPVR use for tuning on the Ceton is supposed to take care of any SDV needed. This is all taken care of automatically by the Ceton drivers.

As mentioned above, are you sure the channels causing problems are copy-freely?

You can also try watching one of the channels, then take a look in the Ceton webpages to see if it lists any errors, and check what it's tuned to.

So the channels i'm trying to watch I would "think" wouldn't be copy protected, TLC (The Learning Channel) HLN (Headline News) DSC (Discovery Channel). Anyways I went ahead and loaded the Ceton Webpage and every channel that isn't working is showing Copy Protection: "One Copy" and every channel that works is showing "Copy Free". Sounds like you guys were right. Also like HarryH3 said, if media center could play it that threw me off for troubleshooting. Is there anything I can do at this point? Hate telling the Wife she can't watch the TLC channel we pay for. Thanks again

Unfortunately NextPVR is at the mercy of your cable company's copy protection. NextPVR is only able view those channels that are copy-freely.

Some people have managed to talk to their cable company, and have had these types of channels changed to copy-freely. I'm not sure how practical that is though.

Otherwise you might need to look at an earlier version of Windows, with Windows Media Center.

This is definitely cable company dependent. If it's Comcast, then you can probably get them to fix the problem if you can get to the right person. If it's Time Warner, then bringing it to their attention would probably result in them changing the other channels to Copy-once. :-( I don't recall seeing much about Cox, so I'm not sure what their policy is...
