Recording/recurring-backup.xml files

I can understand the use for exporting database recording information to these backup files.

My question: Are these two files, recording-backup.xml and recurring-backup.xml, ever used for input to the database? Are they used for explicit import by the user?

I guess what I'm driving at is, are there dependencies between these files and the database so that they need to be kept "in sync" at any given moment?

They're generally only an export. The app will not read them unless you hit the 'Import Recordings' button, and browse to and select these files.

They exported after the epg update each night.

These files comes in very handy if you for some reason have to delete your database and start from scratch, you can then import all your recordings instead of manually entering them.
