I'll be honest, I don't see me implementating support for this anytime soon.

Probably the best I could do was provide an option in the DVB EPG grabber to strip an trailing text from the title starting form the '(' character. This would be done when importing the data, so that your guide would be more like everyone elses guide.

Doesn't Settings > Recording > Recurring Match: > "Match Start of Title" take care of this situation?

Unfortunately not in his case. If he schedules a season recording for "Simpons XXV (1) -ST -W -HD", it'd still expect all the titles to start with at least that, which wouldn't be the case. That setting is only really helpful when they occassionally append stuff to the title. ie you've scheduled "The Simpsons" and it'll pickup "The Simpsons: Christmas Special".

I suggest you use the "All Episodes, All Channels" recurring type, then Update the recurring recording and edit the Advanced Rules string...

For example you might see the Advanced Rules string title like 'The Simpsons (1)' and you would edit it to say title like 'The Simpsons%'. The catch is that you'll be editing a bit blind, as no cursor will appear in the field. Just start pressing backspace until you delete what you need to, add the % sign, and then don't forget the single-quote at the end.

You may also want to edit the "Name" field to just say the main title of the show ("The Simpsons" in this example).

It looks like you recording service wasn't running at the time, so couldn't connect to it.

It looks like it might have crashed looking for a tuner you've previously configured, but was no longer connected to the machine. This absolutely shouldn't bring down the recording service though. I'll try to reproduce soon, and fix if I can see the same problem here:

When you cancel a recording, it has to tell the recording service it no longer needs to do that recording. In this case the recording service has crashed, some time earlier due to your missing tuner, so it isn't able to talk to it...so you get this error about being unable to communicate with the recording server.

At least you've got a workaround - just plug your tuner back in.
