Why do none of the decoders, in attachment, work for live TV?

Live TV uses the same decoders as playback of a recording. It is usually easiest to get Recording and Playback to work and them to get Live TV working.

Are you able to record a show and then playback the recording? The Cyberlink (PDVD 10) decoder in the pic should work for playback of US TV.

I removed Power DVD and used LAV Video Decoder and it will play recorded TV, but not live TV. It just shows me a black screen on live TV. I will be reinstalling Power DVD tonight and trying again.

The ones that say 'Muxer' definitely wont work. These are not decoders. For some odd reason Cyberlink registers it's Multiplexer components as decoders.

The LAV Video Decoder is known to be quirky for digital tv use, but should generally work (but problems skipping).

Ignoring live tv for now, if you do a recording, do you get a valid file made on disk? If you play it in another player (like VLC), do you see video? If you play the recording in NextPVR do you get video?

Recorded shows play fine in Media Player and VLC. In NextPVR I just get black screen.

Correction, NextPVR can also play recorded shows with no problem. NextPVR only gives black screen on live tv.

While playing the recording in VLC, in the 'Tools->Codec Information' menu item, does it show the video as MPEG2 or H.264?
