New user here, I just installed and tried to test 3.6.6 on a clean Windows 8.1 machine. I have a new HDHR3-US (HDHomeRun Dual) that I would like to use for pulling in ATSC video and recording shows. The tuner is working because I can view it in the HDHR View application and in Windows Media Player.

When I launch NextPVR and attempt to go through the Device Configuration, I am met with an error. I go into Settings > Devices. The program scans for and detects both of my tuners without issue. I then select Tuner 1 > Devices Setup. In the new windows I click "Scan" to begin scanning for channels, but NextPVR immediately creates an error stating "Unable to start device"

Any idea what this is, or how to resolve it?

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Logs are attached with a very recent "Unable to start device" error. Only disclaimer is that the system is actually not 8.1, it's Server 2012 with the Desktop features installed. I never restart it, so I forgot what the heck was installed.

If I need to downgrade to a different version of Windows to get my tuner working, that would be sad, but manageable. Let me know what you find!

Server 2012 should be fine. "I never restart it" might be more of an issue with Windows Big Grin

What does it take to get it working again when it's in this state? Does it work again when you restart the application, or does it need a reboot?

There are no BDA drivers on Windows Server versions so a custom user d/l hack is required.

I'm not sure what you mean by "working again". NPVR, up to this point, has never "worked" if by that we mean being able to view or record live TV. This error is a barrier to being able to use NPVR. However, the NPVR software always works. It loads to the main menu without issue and when I do encounter this error, all I have to do it click "okay" and it will go back to the Devices submenu. From there I can scoot out and continue to navigate like always, albeit without any access to TV.

So the software is fully functional throughout this process, it never hangs or crashes. But the intended use for the software is non-functional start to finish. Rebooting does not affect the situation for better or for worse.

I hope that helps. If not, I'll hang around to reply with whatever clarification you may need.

Sorry, I confused your post with another one. I was thinking it was stopping working after a period of time.

Do you not the tuner is in a working state? ie, does it work in any software that uses it's BDA drivers (ie, not HDHR View)?

Good question. I still don't know what a BDA driver is, nor what software requires them. It works in HDHR View, as I said, but otherwise I don't know. There isn't any other TV streaming software on the server besides NPVR (which I installed) and HRHR view (which came with the drivers and was a good platform for testing connection to the tuner). I can try another for troubleshooting if you have a suggestion.
