I was going to change mine to time based so I could see if it stopped my issues too and I just checked the setting and it's already on Time Based. Any other suggestions?

All I was specifically looking into was files being left behind. Are you getting files left behind with time based?

Yes, So I have been having the screen go black, the slowing issues, and the files being left behind since the time I created this post. Once I saw that changing to the Time Based time shift was a temporary solution, I figured I could switch to that for now and the other day I went into my setting only to find out that I have been on Time Based the entire time.

Are there any other suggestions to resolve this? We are so frustrated My wife and I went from considering creating a tutorial so our friends could take part in all the joy we are having with our setup to now we can't even watch TV ourselves without hard stopping Kodi, emptying the Temp folder, and restarting Kodi multiple times a day. I put this in the forum over a month ago looking for help and at my wits end. If there is anything at all I can do to help someone figure this out then please just tell me. I'm no programmer but I can gather any testing info you need me to. Please help and thanks again.

I'm quite happy to work your out why these files are being left behind, but you'll need to some of the leg work.

If you can find the simplist scenario that causes files left behind, and describe it to me, I'll find the appropriate place in the application to add logging to determine while files are left behind.

Is the problem crashing or just temp files left behind because of the crash. Even watching TV for 12 hours a day shouldn't leave more that about 100MB of junk around. In my NMT days when Live TV files also were left around I just deleted *.ts from the live tv buffer folder in postupgradeepg.bat

No problem at all. It's as simple as it gets. Most of the time I turn on kodi, click TV to watch OTA shows, and a while later I come back and it's crashed and there is multiple files in the Temp folder. One more example because of mvallevand's reply below. I don't know if the chicken or the egg came first. lol. Almost without fail, I turn on the TV as previously stated in kodi and in about a half hour the screen goes black but I can still hear the audio. Eventually everything quits and locks up but it's almost like it's running out of space or memory. Not sure. You just tell me a breakdown of the steps you want me to follow and I will make it happen.
