Thanks. Sub should I wait for this to happen again or just send you the current log files? It turns out that did not happen yesterday as I had thought. It did happen within the last week.

The current and most recent log file is called .log, previous log file is .1, and the previous to that is .2 and so on. The messages in the log files are dated and timed. You can use notepad to check whether you have log files that matches the period when one or more of the files was created. You can tell when a file was created with right-click and then properties to see the "created" and "modified" date and time.
To be sure, I suggest that you wait until new unexpected files are created and then promptly post all logs with a message giving some dates and times for the creation of the unexpected files.
Here are the log files. It is happening right as I type this and the temp file has over 52gb's of random clips. I can't access any tuner while this is going on and I will restart the recording service as soon as I send these files.
I've used 7zip to zip them hope that is ok. After waiting for this to happen again I've found that if I leave these files there long enough that most will disappear in time and that this event where the tuner is on and nothing can access it other than scheduled recordings has not happened the same as I was describing until now. However this was, I would say, a weekly occurrence for the last four months.
Sorry deleted them before I saw this message but when it does it again I'll note what the file names are. From memory they are random channels and clip lengths but I'll get more accurate stats as soon as I can.
They'll be there for a reason, like temp files from streaming live tv or something. Usually these types of temp files would be automatically deleted, but it sounds like that's not happening for you.
We really need to work out what action is causing the creation of these files for you, so we can narrow down where in the application to look.
Well after weeks now of trying to show this problem it appears to have nearly gone away. A couple of times after I first posted the original message I had some files show up in the Temp folder that then later went away before I was able to send them but that never locked the tuner. The only time it has happened again, with the tuner being locked, is when I posted that it had happened again around 5/21/16; unfortunately I had deleted the files before sending them to you all. Since then I have not seen it happen again. That leads me to think that maybe the streaming of live or recorded TV with Emby may have been the problem. Emby has had several major updates in the time since I originally posted this issue until now and maybe those updates took care of the problem. I'm speculating of course and have no idea what has happened to something that was a weekly occurrence for months now seems to have gone away and that is the only thing that I can think of that might have happened. I'll post the logs and names of files if it happens again but for now I would say it has somehow resolved it self.
I have just noticed that it was happening again so I've posted the log files. The temp folder is completely full with 109gbs of clips. I've noticed on this occasion that the first clip was a program that was supposed to have recorded, but it was skipped because of some error, but the rest don't seem to have any pattern. I'll keep these files here for a while, or the majority of them, but they are currently filling my ssd up and I will delete a few gigs worth to make some space. What information about these files would you need?
