Old "back button" bug resurfaces in 3.7.7

Actually not quite the same thing. What you're describing all just the same Recordings screen, it's just switching between the different lists. The Library Metadata screens are entirely separate screens - they're actually part of the Video Library, which is where they were first designed for.

Fair enough..... but I am/was fairly sure he was talking about the Recording screens & was comparing between the old & the meta-data views when he made this comment originally... of course I could well be wrong about that......

I've done a further update to the installer, which makes sure the 'escape' key also retains it's position in the list.

Thanks Sub - this was what I was asking for for the last 2 releases - works fine with genuine media player remote.

Now to get the fanart working correctly:

What are the rules now for show names containing illegal windows characters e.g. [ \ / : * ? " < > | ] etc. or [ ... ] at the end of a folder? I have been having particular problems with the .fanart.jpg files not showing.

If it does send an 'escape' keypress, then that updated installer should do the job for you.

Like everywhere in the app, you can use the arrow keys navigate around the screen. The left-arrow wont exit out of that screen though (and doesn't anywhere else in the application), and there is nothing further left of the buttons on that screen, so nowhere further left to go.

The remote "back" key is working great now.

Before 3.7.7 the left key on the remote did exit from that screen. But IIRC, it would jump back to the conflicts screen, instead of the recordings screen. Having the back key send the esc character behaves perfectly.

Are these fanart files that NextPVR has downloaded, or files that you're trying to manually create? Most of the artwork infrastructure in the last couple of releases has downloaded artwork to C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Media\Shows, and this replaces invalid charaters with an underscrore character.

It might ot be consistent, I think that is episode art in the catalog. For shows names I believe they are stripped because that is how recordings are retrieved.

The same MetadataManager is used pretty much everywhere the system interacts with art in the last couple of releases, whether its downloading artwork while recording, or downloading artwork in the TV Guide, or viewing artwork in the Recordings screen, so the file names should be consistent regardless of what activity caused it to be downloaded.

These are all in the NPVR\Media\Shows folder - some downloaded by the artwork stuff, some downloaded by imagegrablite and some home-brewed. (not using an SD account)

Only had a short window to look so far, but...
If a program has a [ : ] it is replaced by [ _ ] in the -catalogue.xml file .fanart.jpg and the fanart shows as expected in 3.7.7
If it has just a [ ... ] at the end of the file name it has [ ....fanart.jpg ] at the end and appears to show correctly.
With both the colon and dot,dot,dot in a file name e.g. [ bla bla: bla bla bla... ] the fanart file is created with the name
[ bla bla_ bla bla bla....fanart.jpg ] but doesn't show in the metadata screens.

Also if a file name has an apostrophe in the name, the -catalogue.xml file has [ &apos; ] internally but the file names all have the [ ' ] - again no show in the metadata screens.

If required I'll try and get some examples in the next couple of days.
