I've attached two screenshots of the clips. After looking at them some more they seem to be from most of the day and not just from one specific show, which is what it seemed before.

I think that I did stream some show for a short while today but not starting from the time the first clip is from. Do the log files tell you anything?

I did watch this channel starting at about that time, but it was from my PC/NextPVR not Emby and all of the clips look like they are from the same channel. Probably the only time I watch live TV, while having breakfast at exactly the time of the first clip on the above screenshots. After thinking about it some more I don't think I used Emby at all today. It seems to have been triggered from watching live TV.

You're basically going to need to do some testing to try reproducing, to help narrow down the cause.. ie, empty out the live tv buffer directory, start watching live tv in NextPVR for half an hour or so, and check what files you've got. You should only have four files. When you stop live tv, the files should be deleted. Next, do the same thing from Emby, and see if the same behaviour. If we can narrow it down to one of those two, then we can determine where to look next.

Hello Sub. What are you referring to as the live TV buffer, or where is that located. I'm familiar with the c:\temp folder that I created while installing NextPVR, but I'm not sure where the live tv buffer directory is located.

Thanks that is the same file then I was just making sure we were talking about the same file.
1. Watch live TV with NextPVR: file named 'Reloaded_20160705_14271430'. File appears then disappears immediately after the channel is stopped. File is the program name/date/unknown string.
2. Watch live TV with KODI: file named 'live-E!-9-8796-6'. File appears then disappears immediately (slight delay on closing compared to NextPV). File is live/channel number/unknown string.
3. Watch live TV with Emby (locally from browser): file named 'live-CBS-3-8796-5'. File appears then disappears immediately (slight delay on closing compared to NextPVR). Files is identical to the one created by Kodi.

Seems inconclusive to me as everything appears to have operated correctly while testing the different media players. However the problem has intensified significantly in the past several days now happening constantly and seemingly after any source is used to watch live TV. It had virtually gone away for several weeks but has now started again. This uptick in occurrences seems to coincide with a recent update from NextPVR. I noticed the return in frequency of this problem soon after updating but this is only an observation but it did coincide with that event.

We're still going to need to narrow it down to a scenario that causes before I can do anything about it. When you do catch it happening, it might be worth checking if ffmpeg is running in the process list, which might help identify it as Emby.

I don't think it's at all related to the new release, because you had the problem beforehand.

I'm not seeing other reports, so it could be something environmental on your machine that causes it to happen, like antivirus scanner is locking file when NextPVR is trying to delete it, leading to file being left behind.

I'll try to get some more examples. The anti-virus is a possibility as I've had some files quarantined by it before that had stopped my media center from working correctly. I'll add everything NextPRV/Kodi/Emby to the exception list and see if that might be it since you've said it's not happening anywhere else that does make sense. I think that might be it if it goes away after adding them to the ignore list I'll let you know.

You might also want to exclude your recording / live tv directories if your antivirus lets you exclude directories, so that it's not scanning the recording files.
