Your indulgence please. I have been using npvr for sometime on one machine and now have the ability to stream on the local network (Samsung phone and ipad) so feel I have done well and my thanks to all the hints in the postings as I have worked my way through the guidance.
I now want to stream to a remote location as I am soon to go on holiday.
I have a no-ip address and have forwarded port 8866 from the router to the host machine. Turning off the wifi on my phone (so it is working over a 3G service) I can access:
http://name.no-ip.biz:8866/guide.aspx
which then displays on the phone. To my mind this proves that the port forwarding is working correctly.
However I cannot then get anything to play (either from recordings or a live stream). VLC on the phone tries but reports an error of some description (it goes too quickly to be read) - and only if I manually copy the link and post it into VLC
Re: config.xml - I have changed these two settings:
<AllowRemoteTranscode>true</AllowRemoteTranscode>
<AllowRemoteStreaming>true</AllowRemoteStreaming>
to that shown as they were false.
I sense I am close but drowning in technicalities somewhere.
On the phone I have found the streaming settings and changed the port to 8866 (was 7648) and upped the buffer. Streaming and playing recordings does not work.
Host machine - win 10, latest npvr version
Samsung phone is a Note 2, VLC has been updated to latest version.
I would welcome guidance on what to try next - if logs are needed being a simple older person I will some help to make sure I do the right things.
If this is explicitly covered in the documentation then please simply point me at it - I have read it through to achieve the above.
Thanking you in advance.
