NPVR crash on startup

I am a refugee from GBPVR. Had NPVR all setup and looking good when I decided to try a different skin option in settings (preferred style). When starting NPVR it crashed with the following messages. I changed the setting back and it just keeps crashing.

if you rename the config.xml to config.old, and run the app, does the crash go away?
