Why would someone run comskip in both batch files?

You wouldn't run comskip in both batch files. Originally/traditionally, you would run it in postprocessing.bat after the recording is completed. However, some people have put it in parallelprocessing.bat because its processing will complete sooner after a recording is finished and/or to (possibly) get some limited skipping when watching recordings that are still in process.

In your situation, I would recommend only using postprocessing.bat and running ts4np on the .ts file before your run comskip on it. That way the file will be "fixed" before comskip sees it and any potential timing changes will have been made so that the timings in the file generated by comskip will definitely match the final .ts file.

I set up parallelprocessing.bat to do nothing, and postprocessing.bat to run ts4np then comskip.
Occasionally ts4np gets an IO Exception and launches the JIT debugging confirmation dialog.

Hello.

I again have a file that VLC cannot play but plays perfectly with NextPVR. This is the second file with this problem inside a week so I'd like to dig a little deeper.

Martin: I tried to use the tool you suggested but as a new user, I'm having a little problem trying to apply the fixed you used. Is there some documentation I can get to figure out how to use this tool?

I'd be willing to allow a TeamView session if you have the time to show me what to do.

[EDIT] The file I'm having trouble with WILL play but only after what appears to be a complete read of the file by VLC. This is true of the other file also. This may be a different problem. This may help with diagnosis. [/EDIT]

Thank you.

Just a suggestion. You might want to look at VideoReDo MPEG Video Editor:
http://www.videoredo.com/en/index.htm

They have an auto fix function which will scan a ts file and try and fix video/audio errors and then produce a new ts file.

TSDoctor is also an excellent tool for fixing .ts files, although I don't know how well the new version will run in a batch, I remember there was some problems in version 1 but 2 is out now.

Although I don't see much value in playing files with VLC if you use the cut chuck program on the wiki and link to to a 50-100 MB sample I will have a look

Well...I've done some research and the transport stream data is beginning to make some sense.

Like the initial problem I was having, I have another file that won't play. I believe that the reason is that a PAT shows a PID that never again appears. You mentioned that you changed the problem PAT to a null packet. I believe that it involved changing the packet with the bad PID to a PID of 8191. I'm using the MPEG TS Packet Analyzer. Does this program support changing data in the .ts file or do I need something else? What can be used?

Thanks.
