So Nextpvr does not key off the New label in the guide for recordings, but stores the episodes you have recorded? Reason I ask is if I do the command nextpvr -recurring , delete a series and only select new episodes, will that record just the new episodes or all the episodes in the series?

If you have deleted it without using Forget it will note be recorded. Here is a recent post on this http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post510220

What does the command line option --recurring do?

Thanks.

If you have told NextPVR to ONLY record New episodes, then it looks for the New tag. However, it then also checks the episode number against its internal database to see if that episode has already been recorded. If that episode is already listed as recorded then NextPVR does not record it again, even if it is marked as New. This prevents duplicate recordings when the EPG marks reruns as New for some reason.

Not if a recording with that ID hadn't been deleted as happened US election night.

FYI: When channels air episodes multiple times in the same week (like with a new series when it is first being broadcast on Tuesday night, but then have an "encore" showing of it Friday night or cable shows that play in prime-time for the US East Coast but then have another showing a few hours later for the US West Coast prime-time), often both episodes are marked as "new" since this "set" of broadcasts is the first time the episode has been broadcast. You can turn off the "Avoid duplicate recordings where possible" option if you want the "Record only New episodes" recurring recording option to only look at the "new" episode flag.

I can understand Barry10's explanation of using -recurring by mistake but you(EDIT: mvallevand) have explicitly used it in addition to the -removehistory option.

Please, what does -recurring do?

It just causes to reprocess the recurring recordings. It's useful for getting the logging of what the system is doing when choosing which shows to record. It's a step that normally happens at the end of an EPG update, or when you create an a new recurring recording.

In normal use there is no need to run this manually.
